okkmeun is the name that Nocterns use for themselves. It is a Nokmeni term that means "from shadow, light."

Nocterns never refer to themselves as Noctern. Although many oplanders simply use the word Noctern because they know of no other way to refer to the inhabitants of the Ontorlands, Nocterns are leery of the close alliteration in Komon between Noctern and nocturnal. Not only are the Nocterns not nocturnal, but they also don't appreciate the negative connotations associated with the word.
