The ancient continent

Sarsand is the largest continent in the southern hemisphere of Etrea, with a population of around a hundred million people. To the south of Sarsand are unending flat, rocky plains, carved out over the centuries by chill winds and driving rain. Prehistoric standing stones remain scattered across the landscape, monuments to forgotten gods. In the north, the climate is warmer, full of both tropical and ancient temperate forests.   Sarsand contains two mountain ranges. In the east, the Rulos range is characterised by rocky slopes covered in low-lying vegetation. In the winter months, the peaks are swallowed by snow. In the north, there is a large volcanic range known as the Gulguns. Small eruptions are frequent, but rarely cause significant damage. However, six months ago, Mount Vatra, the largest volcano in the range, erupted with a devastating force, ending thousands of lives.
