Abyss — primeval Realm of the Dark.
adamant — an ultra-hard metal unknown to most smiths among Mankind; also known as dverg steel.
Aeon — an uncreated manifestation of Akasha.
Age — subdivision of an Era lasting a varying number centuries, with each Age generally considered more chaotic than the prior.
Akashic Realm — the primeval Realm of Light.
ancestor — a deified ancestor of a household or clan who watches over their descendants.
angel — a person chosen as a psychopomp and messenger, usually by an Elder God.
Archons — a name for Elder Gods.
Art, the — general term for all paranormal disciplines and secret lore, vulgarly termed “magic,” and subdivided into Arcana.
Atman — the sum of the Prakasa drawn from the Akashic Realm, existing within the Tree of Life. The World Soul is apportioned out to individual lives as people, spirits, and animals are born.
Ceaseless Tempest – the Elder God of Storms.
chimera – a spirit with the traits of two or more animals.
Chthonic Mother – the Elder Goddess of the Earth.
Dark — literal and metaphoric Darkness out of the Abyss.
Deep Ones — Sea-fae clan.
demon — spirits from the Abyss or infused with its Dark.
Destroyer — A soul, incarnated over numerous lifetimes, whose ultimate role is the end of each era, overcoming some cataclysmic threat and destroying the World in an Eschaton.
dragon — a demon with a saurian shape.
Echo, the — a common name for the Spectral Realm.
eidolon — spirit of Man-like nature (namely ghosts and fae).
eitr — draconic poison possessed of supernatural power that can change those who survive contact with it.
Elder Deep — The Elder Goddess of the Sea.
Elder Races — the two races who predate Man; Giants and Fae.
Enthymesis of Dark — the consumption greed that drives the Abyss and tempts Mankind as creatures born of Dark, manifesting as unbounded desires.
Enthymesis of Light — the desire of souls towards Gnosis and return to the henosis of the Akashic Realm.
Era — a complete revolution of the Wheel of History, lasting roughly 5200 years, and subdivided into four Ages of decreasing length and increasing chaos.
Eschaton — cyclical destruction of civilisation in the Mortal Realm at the end of each Era, prompted by the Destroyer.
etheric — having non-physical existence relating to the Spectral Realm.
Ever-Burning One — The Elder God of Fire.
fae — an Elder Race who became land spirits after banishment to the Otherworld.
Fates, the — three female entities who oversee the Wheel of Fate.
Fatespinner — a title, oft used pejoratively, for a figure manipulating history on behalf of the Fates.
Fathomless Dark – the Elder Goddess of Night.
Firebringer — a semi-mythical figure said give pyromancy to Men.
ghost — eidolons of dead Men not yet transmogrified into fae or returned to the Wheel of Life.
Giant — an Elder Race. Though human in appearance, they possess above average height, strength, and beauty.
Gnosis — personal insight into the Ontos.
Gnostic Cabal — an order dedicating to breaking free from the Wheel of Fate.
goblin — a corrupted or Man that has been warped and twisted by Dark into a lesser demon that delights in carnage.
Hidden God — the preeminent Primordial whose power binds the Archons, and de facto demiurge most directly responsible for the cosmos.
Khaos — a name for Dark.
land spirit — a spirit inhabiting the landscape, literally embodying a particular mountain, forest, lake, river, waterfall, or other natural feature.
Lethe — A consumptive force in the Otherworld that drains memories.
Luminant — The Elder God of the Sun.
Man/Mankind — humans.
mara — an angry ghost who haunts dreams.
mer — a name for Deep Ones.
Mistwraith — fusion between a wraith and a Mist-fae; originally created by Hekate.
Mortal Realm — the Earth (the physical universe).
Mother, the — the first Aeon, who tried to shelter the captured Prakasa within the World by becoming the World Tree.
Ogre — a Giant that has given into the Hunger and been twisted by consuming Man-flesh.
Old One — the demon spawn of a Primordial (or sometimes another Old One).
Ontos — the true nature of the World, of its inception and purpose.
orichalcum — an ultrarare rosy-gold coloured metal suitable for soulforging.
Otherworld — the world beyond or beside the Mortal Realm, in which spirits dwell.
Pearl Lord – the Elder God of the Moon.
Prakasha — the Light of Akashic Realm, most directly manifested within beings of the World as souls, drawn up from the Atman.
Prana — the vital force of life inherent in all beings and extant in places and things.
Primal Spirit – a unique entity, oft associated with locations in the Mortal Realm, but dwelling in the Spirit Realm.
Primordial — a name for Elder Gods.
Realm — a cosmological term for a world or division of a world, e.g. Spectral Realm, Spirit Realm, and so forth.
revenant — a ghost in possession of a corpse (usually its own).
the Roil — a part of the Otherworld in which reality becomes especially nebulous.
Sea of Time — metaphoric term for the totality of the timeline as perceived by the most powerful Oracles.
shade — a ghost not possession of a body (contrast with revenant).
Shrouded One — The Elder Goddess of Mist.
Spectral Realm — the part of the Otherworld which abuts and mirrors the Mortal Realm as a kind of twisted Echo.
spirit — a term for any entity outside the sphere of the Mortal Realm.
Spirit Realm — the part of the Otherworld most directly controlled by the Elder Gods and thus held together in relative stability in elemental infused domains.
Supernal — language of spirits which resonates with the frequency of the cosmos.
Sylvan – the Elder God of the Wood.
Tapestry of Fate — a metaphor for the Wheel of Fate.
Tartarus — concentric walls and the portion of the Abyss contained therein that enclose the two worlds and separate them from the Primordial Realms.
therianthrope – a Man permanently fused with an animal spirit to create a were-beast.
timewalking — traveling through time.
Unseen Order — an order dedicated to upholding the Wheel of Fate.
vampire — a kind of revenant that subsists by consuming Prana from blood and is permanently tied to their corpse.
Veil, the — an etheric membrane that separates the World from the Otherworld and thus prevents eidolons from bodily entering the Mortal Realm.
Watcher — The first immortals who originally served the Archons.
Wheel of Fate — A metaphor for the deterministic nature of the universe and the causal chains that ostensibly contravene free will.
Wheel of History — the cycle of history, progressing downward from a Golden Age toward a corrupted Dark Age before culminating in an Eschaton and laying the foundation for a new Golden Age.
Wheel of Life — The cycle of reincarnation whereby souls (Prakasa) are drawn from the World Tree and invested into individual lives, only to be returned to the Wheel and spun out once more.
will — the active principle of the soul, capable of making choices.
wisp — etheric light, sometimes controlled by eidolons.
World Tree — the last physical form of the Mother, which serves as a conduit of souls and at the same time binds the worlds together.
World, the — a common name for the Mortal Realm, though occasionally including all the cosmos.
wraith — a ghost of a dead sorcerer, warped by the Dark.
Yaoguai — a spirit that manifests as an animal.
