fae
Though originally an Elder Race native to the Mortal Realm, the fae long ago tethered themselves to the Otherworld in their quest for power and immortality, and it changed them. More so, when they were banished from the Earth, and transformed into spirits.
The fae dwell in the Spirit Realm demesnes. Such habitation means they fall under the purview of the Elder Gods, who generally look on the fae clan of their demesne as their children and agents. Moreover, the elemental energies of these demesnes have wrought physical changes in the fae.
Though spirits, fae live, can be killed, and have children. Those born in the Spirit Realm, as children of the aristocracy, claim descent from Danu, collectively calling themselves blooded fae. In most cases, when a soul becomes fae either through a hybrid embracing fae nature, or this transmogrification of a dead soul, they are held as commoners. However, spirits respect nothing more than power, and those with the strength and will to rule have been known to enter into high society.
Alien Mind: Due to ties to the Otherworld and the nature of feeding on souls, fae tend to have incomprehensible natures and motivations, and thus, appearances not withstanding, we must never mistake them as being like us. Because they must use human bodies as hosts, they are even more apt to see us as objects for their pleasure.
Iron Allergy: Fae are burned by pure iron—called cold iron—can thus make their tools from other materials. Fae in possession of mortal hosts are substantially less affected by this allergy, though may still feel some small discomfort with direct skin contact. Dwarves are not affected by this allergy.
Those who embrace their heritage can sometimes become embodied fae, and these entities are especially dangerous, as they may freely pass across the Veil. Embodied fae cannot possess human hosts, however. The process of embracing fae heritage is usually gradual, oft triggered by extreme strain or trauma. However, there is no predicting these things; some hybrid children quickly adopt the nature of their fae parent, whilst others never do at all.

Appearance
In possession of a mortal host, a fae is oft indistinguishable from its host. Given time, however, the alien spirit exerts a transformative influence over the mortal shell, slowly shifting features to more closely resemble those of the native spirit. These features vary between fae clan, as the spirit demesnes have exerted transformative influences upon each clan.Fae Traits
Human Seeming: Prior to banishment, most fae appeared human. Long settlement in spirit demesnes has physical changes in their natural forms. Fae possessing a human host longterm eventually begin to transform the host to more closely resemble their true form. Some fae disguise this with Glamour.Alien Mind: Due to ties to the Otherworld and the nature of feeding on souls, fae tend to have incomprehensible natures and motivations, and thus, appearances not withstanding, we must never mistake them as being like us. Hybrid Children
Fae can interbreed with mortals, including Men and Giants. This includes if a fae has possessed a mortal host during the copulation. Half-fae children oft manifest Arcana as a result of their latent blood. Further, they tend to be beautiful, athletic, and charismatic, with strong Prana that can influence those around them. Those who embrace their heritage can sometimes become embodied fae, and these entities are especially dangerous, as they may freely pass across the Veil. Fae Clans
Though all descended from Danu, and thus all kin, the fae have diverged into seven different clans over the course of millennia. Each clan has ties to a particular demesne in the Spirit Realm, though not every demesne has a native clan of fae. Different clans sometimes work together for trade or common interest, but in general, no love is lost between these clans, who share a long history of mutual animosity.- Darklings
