Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

Follow what is said in the official race description, from https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/races/aarakocra.
As with much of their speech, aarakocra names include clicks, trills, and whistles to the point that other peoples have a difficult time pronouncing them. Typically, a name has two to four syllables with the sounds acting as connectors. When interacting with other races, aarakocra may use nicknames gained from people they meet or shortened forms of their full names.   An aarakocra of either gender may have one of these short names: Aera, Aial, Aur, Deekek, Errk, Heehk, Ikki, Kleeck, Oorr, Ouss, Quaf, Quierk, Salleek, Urreek, or Zeed.

Aarakocra mostly live on isolated tribes.

Average Technological Level

Agricultural and Tribal.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Aarakocra and Auran. Those who come into human society may learn common.

Common Etiquette Rules

It's rude to steal the hunt from a member of the races. Aarakocra always signalizes, in the presence of others, when it finds prey, and expect others (even members from other races, though they learn with time that this doesn't happen always so) that people respect it.

Culture and Cultural Heritage

Aarakocra value strength of body and hunting powers. They don't differentiate between the sexes except for courtship, and in all matters are men and women equal: whoever is stronger and most agile is more respected.

Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals

It's common for Aarakocra to organize a festival at certain times of the year. These festivals are opportunities for the young to demonstrate their physical power and agility on the flight, through a series of challenges each villager has to pass. Attaining good results in these festivals means you win the respect of your tribe, which may give you dominion over others and determine your role in society.   Aarakocra who have lived more than 25 years are excused and attain the status of Ancient instead. This means they are respected for their experience, but not relied upon on the daily matters of the tribe. Normally when an Aarakocra turns 25 they retain the amount of respect they gathered in the tournaments for the rest of their lives.

History

Aarakocras have come into the world from the elemental plane in the Age of the Old Gods. Since then, they have lived mostly isolated on mountains and hard to reach places, for they fear humanity and prefer to avoid contact. Nevertheless, every few years one young Aarakocra leaves its village to find success and the world, and therefore members of this race became known.   Due to their isolation, Aarakocra did not cause much impact on the human world.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Aarakocras are isolationists. They sometimes travel to other races settlement and can be friendly enough if they are well received and well treated.   They will never, however, receive well a member of another species in one of their tribes. They think the land walkers, as they call all that can't fly, as an enemy and a menace, and will make their point very clear should one decides to trespass into their territory.
