Launch Day Lunch

The Launch Day Lunch is a time when families and friends get together for a large meal. Residents who celebrate Launch Day traditionally eats this meal at around midday, but it is acceptable to have this meal later in the afternoon or in the evening.

History

During the early years of the Launch Day Lunch, almost every family, friendship groups, and businesses would take part. It was a huge event for many, as people would be gathered around their loved ones and share stories, laughter and, most importantly, food and drink. Only the most natural food and drink would be cooked at this meal. However, as time went on and newer generations have sprung, the popularity of the Launch Day Lunch has declined. Instead, those who do celebrate Launch Day with the lunch, do so out of tradition.

Residents often do their best to purchase the most natural foodstuff. These are often foodstuff from District 7: The Greenlands where the natural farms and market are located. The meal itself depends on people's cultural meals. The most popular is the Roasted meat meals, which consist of multiple types of vegetables and a piece of roasted meat as the primary ingredient. Many of the meals are derived from the meals they would have back at Sol. Launch Day is the time of the year for both celebration and reflection. Many of the older Residents use the Launch Day Lunch as a way to remember their previous homes and to teach the younger generations about their heritage and the old recipes.
