In this iteration of reality, the monsters of gothic horror were all too real. Werewolves, vampires, and zombies—they were everywhere. And yet, because of the efforts of President Abraham Lincoln and his successors, these “monsters” were eventually embraced and welcomed into the general population. By the 1950s, the average American could truly say that they weren’t ’fraida no ghosts.

Sadly, one American—a disgruntled, monster-hating time traveler—traveled back to 1858 to convince the aforementioned Abe not to run for President in 1860.

This unapproved alteration to The Plan angered the goddess Mira. As punishment for the slight, she unleashed a Calamity upon the unsuspecting world.
