Giant Moths

While normal moths might be som nightly annoyance that you have to cope with or a constant enemy of your clothes, the giant moths living in the mists are considered to be the most dangerous predators known to man. And the ones that hang out the closest to inhabitated places. Some say that human meat tastes kind of like a chicken and if giant moths could talk, they would probably agree that it is equally as yummy and nutritious. Why else would these creatures be such a giant pain in the... nether regions. Literally.   Besides their vicious carnivorous nature and eternal hunger there is very little known about them and their behaviour. Usually the paintings and observations are done from a great distance to ensure the survival of the scientists in question, therefore only glimpses can be gathered through the thick layers of clouds. Or, the most detailed studies were done on the corpses that are usually battered into oblivion, because that is the only sure way how to actually kill a giant moth. It's not a pleasant sight and there is not much that can be gained from a weird brownish mud like puddle that has some bits of legs or wings floating in it.   The best way to interact with these moths is to stay away as much as you can. The people living in the coastal regions and mist walkers have some ways to avoid attracting their attention, from amulets, to special sound whistles, to magic and special weapons - but the only real way how to stay safe from their attack or infections of weird diseases is to stay away and stay inside if any mist even looks in your direction.   In religion they are most often the symbols of death and you can find them on grave stones or any kind of diety that has anything to do with the deseased.
