The Burning Lake
The Burning Lake is the lava pool located in the Yellowstone supervolcano. It was created when the Yellowstone Supervalcano was forced to erupt. It is now the home of thousands of burning dragons, and is the main source of the lava for the Fire Plateaus.
Description
The Burning Lake is an extremely large lava pool in what was the Yellowstone National Park in North America. The lava pool now serves as a home for the thousands of burning dragons that forced the volcanoes eruption. The large pool often spills out between the cracks in the old caldera, flowing into the Fire Plateaus.
The pool is in a constant flowing cycle. The lava at the surface of the lake cools, and will all flow to the center to sink. The sinking forces hot lava to the side, where it the rises again, thus repeating the cycle. The dragons that live there also perpetuate the cycle. Many belive the cycle is what hatches their eggs, or the cycle is how they survive in general. It is hard to say, though it may also depend on the species.
Significance
The Burning Lake serves as the representation of the dragon destruction in the Americas, especially in North America. It is also the icon of the Firelands, which spreads for miles across the former Great Plains. Many belive the lake's creation and the eruption of the Yellowstone supervolcano is what ultimatly cause the collapse of the United States of America.
The Burning Lake is also the worlds largest burning dragon habitat. Thousands of burning dragons live here and their numbers grow each year. The surrounding areas the lake feeds with lava is what attracts so many dragons. Burning dragons survive with constant, extreme heat, so lava flow is desirable to them.
