The Tide of Aelor

Write about a bedtime story told to children in your world
Aelor is the rainbow fish of the tide; his scales shine iridescent in the light and he loves coming close to the shore during the high tide. But no matter how fast you are with your hands, or sure of your spear he's never where you thought when you go to catch him. One day a fisherman leave his home insisting to his wife "I know where the Aelor swims, and today as the tide comes in I will set my net behind him, so then when it leave again he'll be trapped!!" Pleased with his plan he sets off for the sure to do just that. The tide comes in and he waits on a rock high above the water and as he see the flash of colors in the pools he covers the exit with his nets. He then wait and wait for the tide to retreat but when it does; the Aelor is gone. "Damn," he says to himself "must've gone under the netting, I'll do better tomorrow." So he tries, day after day to catch the Aelor. Finally in frustration he decides the nets must be coming up off the bottom and today he'll stand with the net. And finally have the Aelor in his hands. So the tide comes in, and he sees the flash, and he slinks into the water to fix his nets... but the water keeps coming in, and it gets higher and higher. When the water is finally over his head he tries to give up his nets and swim; but the tide pulls him out to the sea. He tries to swim back to shore but he can't fight the tide, and eventually he loses his fight to the sea. As he loses sight of the surface and as he submits to the water; he feels a chill run a spiral from bottom to top. When he awoke his arms and legs felt all of one piece; actually as he tried to check himself he noticed his body had turned to all black, sleek, and slender. Now whenever anyone has seen the Aelor so too do they see the black eel following it.
