Wild Cats

Royal Symbolism

Cats in general are used as royal symbolism for the rulers of the Yildae. More specifically iconography on official documents show large wild cats with feirce expressions and beautiful coat patterns. The Queens of Yildasa all hail from the cat clans of the Yildae, and as a result cats within the Dolan Forest are protected and almost worshipped. Cat statues are a popular choice for any noble household to decorate with alongside their clan's animal affiliation.

The Cat Clan

by RandoScorpio via MidJourney

The cat clans of the Yildae are divided further into strata depending on the species of cat a particular branch is affiliated with. Big cats such as tigers, lions, panthers, and jaguars are at the top of the pecking order, with house cats, or lesser cats, at the bottom. It is rare but not unheard of for a big cat to be born to lesser cats.

Even the lowest born cat sits above all other clans as far as power and influence are concerned.

They say cat Yildae have nine lives...can you imagine if that were true? We'd never be rid of them.

Demonized

Human nations have associated cats in general with ill tidings and death. Their fear of the Yildae has been concentrated around the cats of the world and they are seen as close kin to the Yildae, despite there being no evidence for this. As such, it is rare to see cats in heavily populated areas like cities. However, rural areas see the value of cats as pest control and so their presance is mostly tolerated. Pet cats are almost unheard of across all the human kingdoms.
