Upon arriving in Elmham I decided to investigate the city in a conspicuous manner. Trying to find out information while at the same time avoiding the ire of the local lord whom I suspect to be none other than my old business partner from Moscow. I am sitting here even writing this from a room in that castle having been correct in my assumptions and successful in my attempts to re-connect with him. It would appear that he has landed himself in the service of Mithros and the lordship of a hamlet in east anglia. It seams they have been having some problems with the church in the area and believe that demons and the worm are to blame. I decided to accompany them on an exploration of the underground caverns that attach to the lower levels of the stronghold they occupy. As we traveled through the rough hewn caves the temperature and humidity rose to what must have been unbearable levels for mortals. I fear that I will have to get my garments professionally cleaned after walking through all that muck. In time we came to what I can what I would describe as an underground swamp that had Dire Crocodiles in it. This was quite alarming for many reasons which I believe to all be apparent so I will not go into them. Upon inspection of the perimeter I decided to attempt to activate the mechanisms on the alter we found down there. Inside, we found a strange object, what appears to be a red ruby about the size of a heart, but although it feels and looks like stone, there is a mutable quality to it. When I hold it it feels like something almost alive. It both intrigues me and frightens me. We have taken it back to the castle for closer observation and, if we cant figure out any other use for it, it would fetch a High price at market.   After that, I am ashamed to say, we missed one of the clever traps in this place and found ourselves in the mines below when a weak section of the floor gave out beneath us. Although frustrating, the night was young and we decided to instead make the best of it and explore the mines and get some clues of what it is they actually do down here. After grabbing one of the miners to show us around as a guide. We made our way to the forman. But before that, I have to describe a door that we were not able to open yet (Description of the runed door @Sebastion, I would like to attach a picture if you have one) I cannot fully read all the runes on this door, but I will make it a priority to find out. It speaks to me. I believe it holds the entrance to an immense treasure. But it can wait. I will help the others for now. The forman was rude but that is nothing new, and Zach is not likely know to all of the town yet as their new lord. What was alarming was how big he was for a mortal. Although I use the term mortal incorrectly here I think. He looked like a mortal, but he neither behaved nor seemed to have the usual weak limitations of a mortal. the girl, Lucy, seems to confirm this suspicion although she failed to offer any type of information as to the true nature of our forman. To finish this up quickly, as I see I am late to a meeting of a 'Counsel', wonder what luci has in mind? We were attacked by some of the miners while we were exploring and things started to move downhill rapidly. Zach and I both dispatched our attackers in one blow, as if they had a chance. I was getting ready to cut down the rest of the filth when I heard a commotion coming from the entrance and several warriors heading down the hall with unnatural speed. I decided to make a retreat to gather back with the rest of the party to decide what to do from there. We went back to the castle from there and now it appears are working to establish a stronger grip on this town. This could be an amazing opportunity to expand my holdings in the area and service a whole new customer base. I must get in touch with some of my contacts as soon as the docks are built so we can get this market cornered before my competitors even know its open.
