Welf
Welves are a race of nasty little imps who look humanoid, but behave like animals. They are only two feet tall, but have the appetites of rats and will eat anything they can swarm in large numbers. Welves are usually found in ruins and our other wilds where they can burrow into the ground or easily hide. They are filthy disgusting scavengers that carry many diseases and will also attack live prey in large numbers. They have been blamed for spreading the plague in many towns.
Welves are usually more a problem in poor areas such as slums and hamlets without strong civil authorities to exterminate them. Welves are the worst of the pests that can invade your home and they like to pick up simple sharp utensils like silverware and tools to use as stabbing weapons. Sometimes their name is used to insult Elves due to phonetic similarity. Elves, both light and dark, are highly offended by this insulting word association. Some say Welves were first bred by the crossbreeding experiments of Mortamus, the Mad.
