Dragol race - The Chronicles of Covent

Dragol

Written by jlficks

Dragols, or rat-men, as they’re often called are a short scraggly race despised all over the West for their generally ugly appearance, poor hygiene and disgusting habits. Dragols have an appetite for garbage, scavenging and thievery, but they seem to be multiplying out west like rats. The rat-men live in the slums and dives of Doljinaar, but can even be found in ruins and uninhabitable places. Ironically, Dragols are extreme survivors, immune even to disease, but they are largely believed to be carriers for plague, leprosy or worse viruses causing other races to be wary of them.

Dragols are generally disliked, mistrusted and considered a dangerous nuisanse in Doljinaar, due to their propensity at times to steal, scavange and occassionally swarm in large numbers, leaving behind ransacked and looted streets, shops and homes. Dragol populations have began to explode and they are the only race who breed faster than humans. Doljinn guards and the government authority has had to put down a number of brutal uprisings and although Dragols don't usually attack people, they can leave behind a lot of devasation and upset citzens in their wake. Some popluations of Dragols have begun to live underground in the Underrealms, where they have begun to prosper and even build their own ramshackle city called Dragoltown.
Dragols were once heavily hunted down in Doljinaar as a wretched Trollbreed and killed, but a small group of Humans have been successful in finding use for Dragols. Dragols are starting to be utilized in obtaining uneasily attainable substances, like the illegal drug Stardust, or in more noble circles medicine. Many claim the rat men are nearly as agile as Sans from children’s fairy tales. Dragols were bred off the cross breeding experiments of Mortamus the Mad and so they have neither a nation or their own flag, though thie delvings in the Underrealms are largely unknown except to Dwarves, who also have little tolerance for them. Thankfully, there are plenty of untamed underground wilds and caverns in the Underrealms for Dragols to build a place for themselves.

Dragols are largely very simple-minded creatures driven by their desires for basic needs, scavenging habits and being a general nuisance to the common populace. However, a few Dragols like Drazel from Jile are quite smart, geniuses in fact, becoming a famous inventor. Drazel sprouted a tail as a side effect of a potion of his own concoction. Another Dragol, Raashan, has become a physician and famous for his studies as he has developed a few cures in treating devastating epidemics in Doljinaar, due to his brilliant mind and disease immunity.
