Duchy of Roviere

Roviere is a rich city that produces more agricultural resources for the region than all of the other cities combined. The surrounding area is flat enough for extensive farming and fertile due to being in a valley with many small rivers and agreeable summers. As a result, many trading companies have popped up with their origins in the great duchy of Roviere, most notably the East Azrean Trading Co., which is a ruthless, highly bureaucratic organisation that doesn't allow anyone to operate in the Azmurean Sea without their permission. Their subsidiary Bjorn & Sons is a highly effective and dangerous mercenary organisation that operates an extensive fleet to enforce the company's rules.
The people of Roviere are fiercely patriotic and believe that Roviere is the greatest city in Ayrul. They look down on everyone else on Azrea and consider Mura and Kurhan their only peers. In reality, the capitols of the two great empires each have a population of over two million and are barely aware that Roviere even exists. Rovierans are still East Rendinian and hold to the core the culture, if a bit more extreme.
Rovierans are known for their festivals, especially the Mid-Winter Festival of Lot: the goddess of Winter and Summer, Life and Death. The Verdantfield Stadium hosts fifty-one days of games through the middle of winter, which often involves big prizes for the attendees. People come from all over Azrea to engage in them as participants and spectators. Moriant and Roviere have been working on a trade deal, Iron and Steel for Wheat, but East Rendin versus West Rendin politics have caused endless delays in the processing. Access to Moriant's steel would allow Roviere to upgrade its infrastructure and dramatically increase its ability to produce food for the region and support an even larger population. With Murapii so close, exporting to their millions of hungry mouths is easy enough.
