Order of the Griffin

Made up entirely of adventurers from QAAG associated guilds (and a few city gurads deemed worthy), the Order is one of the most respected and powerful 'city guards' in the Steadfast. It is their job to protect the city of Qi, along with members of Round Table Alliance when traveling. To do this each member is typically in charge of a few city guards and take shifts guarding the various entrances to the city and patrolling.   Each of the few times Qi has been directly attacked, the combined might of the Order and city guards (though many argue the city guards did not do much) was able to fend off the attacks with relative ease and to this day an active member of the Order has never been killed. Though many have died after going back to being adventurers.

Equipment

Members can be recognized by their white and red uniforms. While these vary in design based on what the given member is good at, they generally are white with red accents, and a griffin in one or more places. Along with a rank insignia on each shoulder (or over the heart if the shoulder does not make sense).

Structure

There is the Major who usually picks who takes over for them. Beneath her are the 4 commanders, who are each in charge of approximately 20-25 members each.   Each Commander is in charge of one of 4 areas of the city, These include the Port and Market area, the University and city center, the southern district (bellow the river) and the Eastern district.   Besides the Major and commanders there are 3 other ranks in decreasing order captain, lieutenant, and second lieutenant.   When first joining everyone is a second lieutenant and typically are in charge of around 5 or so city guards. With captain and lieutenant typically having more. But not all officers have guards under their command as some, the rouges and rangers, typically operate alone.   There are typically around 10 or so captains, ~30 lieutenants and then around 50-60 second lieutenants. These ranks really only serve to indicate relative authority and number of city guard at their disposal. However if a commander desires they can and do put lower ranking officers under the command of others for certain duties. A common example being gate duty where a captain is typically put in charge of that aspect of the area, and usually given a a few officers he can command.

Logistics

Recruitment

Potential members are recruited by current members suggesting someone (usually another adventurer) or by the various guilds proposing someone. If asked, and interested, potential recruits must demonstrate some skill that shows they are worthy and all 4 captains and the commander must agree that they are worthy.
