Dr. Larenz Draczynski, Esq.

Dr. Larenz Draczynski, Esq. (a.k.a. Doc)

Well, to truly understand me, we'd have to start from the beginning. I had a great proclivity towards the subtleties of the arcane arts from a very young age, you see I was born in Ridwe-- What? Not enough time to get into all of that? Just talk about the boat, er sorry the ship? Very well, but you don't know what you're missing. We'll have to catch up some other time so I can fill you in on all of the details. While you're there I'll have to--by the way have you read Descriptions of A World Afire? I just picked it up last time we stopped in port and would love to discuss it wi-- Stick to the relevant topic? Oh dear, I thought I was. You see you need the whole story, you need the required context to fully understand my decision to leave behind my position as a barrister and go sailing. To make a long story short, I became intrigued with the prospect of unearthing relics from past civilizations and, possibly, crafting a treatise on my findings and theories about those ancient peoples. It's all so very interesting, you see I found shards of some pottery on an uninhabited cay. I have it in my office, there are some geometric designs, I'm trying to figure out their precise meaning, but the presence of advanced ceramic techniques indicates a civilization transitioning into a seden-- Oh? Right, yes I see I may have wandered off topic again. I joined this ship's crew as a passenger at first, but my litigious abilities came in useful when I successfully navigated a tort involving the duty of reasonable care involving another passenger of ours. The fool just wanted a quick bit of coin. My skills came in handy again in maneuvering through the freight rates of all the different ports, and don't even get me started on the salvage rates! Those bastards in the Southern Isles wouldn't know high-order salvage if it slapped them in the face! Which I almost did let me tell you... To make a long story short, I was hired on, and made an officer, after an adequate arcane exhibit. However, I knew almost nothing about boatmanship. So I learned the best way I know how, I read a lot of books. Do you read? I have a few things I can recommend to you. I'm also in charge of broadening the crew's cultural horizons don't you know. Yes? Oh, I guess I'm needed somewhere, I'm not sure why they're asking for me, they should probably be looking for the Second Mate.
