Caldwell Fleetstone

Caldwell Fleetstone

I must begin by apologizing, my compatriots. People have expressed their interest in my life after the many occasions in which I have shared my various anecdotes from my fascinatingly discordant and illustrious career in cityscapes, dungeons, palaces, and bedchambers. I don’t mean to suggest that I was a harlot—that being said, my work has brought me to many a boudoir in my time in the pursuit of my life’s lucrative passion.   You see, I am something of a collector; specifically, my joy and crusade concerns arcane artifacts and “unnatural” goods. Ever since I was a dashing, scrappy juvenile delinquent on the streets of Sôbea, I have sought ascension and the acquisition of power. However, in those days, my life had not been consumed in magic; I had not discovered my penchant for the mystic arts. My earliest talents were thievery, which I employed to my own delight and the chagrin of the wealthier castes of The Drifts, and the settlements along The Golden Bay. It brings me such joy to remember these days. I can still smell the saffron and salt and hear the thick shouts of the market square, all carried on the warm ocean breeze. Someday I’ll return to this place once they’ve forgotten my face – or maybe once they’ll never forget it. It is likely that the Court of the Caliphate isn’t happy with me still.   Most people don’t know anything about magic. To them, the arcane arts are a fantastical arbitrage—something only the gifted few are capable with. The arcane adept among us extort those they see as lesser for gain, to some extent or another. How fortunate are we, then, that they know not what arcane wonders are scattered throughout the sands and dirt of the world and time itself. Since long before the Crimson Eclipse, when the deities of our world asserted their dominion over the material plane, the world has been pock-marked and peppered with the marvels of their power, manifested in baubles, objects, and the instruments of war.   The wise, myself hopefully included, know that the tools to enact immense change in our world exist, and that they collect dust in the tombs of the long-dead and on the mantles of the most affluent members of sentient society. The ignorant majority know not these curiosities, grand or minute, and thus exist in pallor and destitution, leaving these artifacts ripe for the taking.   It is the duty and purpose of the Gemini Initiative to seek out these artifacts and return them to those most in need of elevation from the depths of depravity, for reward or otherwise.
