History

Near the end of the First Age, a powerful "fallen knight" tried to destroy the Chreosánth, but was thrwarted. The priests sealed the Chreosánth within a cocoon of powerful magic and managed to drive off the death knight.   The priests worried that Vulgin Rast might return, but they also knew they might be unable to destroy him. As a precaution, the priests had built, in the cavern beneath Glorfiniën Ar, a dungeon that could hold such a dread creature. There, they placed traps and enchantments to confine the death knight for the eternity of his undeath.   As they feared, Vulgin Rast did return, with a host of evil followers. The death knight killed the high priest and took the mystical key. He nearly succeeded in taking the Chreosánth but was eventually driven down into the cavern and sealed away for all eternity. But with him, also, was the key.
