WorldEmber 2023 Pledge
Hello! This month, I'm preparing for the WorldEmber challenge in December! I hereby pledge to write atleast 25K worth of content regarding the Magic System of Pathon. I'm going to expand the descriptions of the Schools of Magic, describe the Laws of Magic, add new Spells, and create a rating system for Spell power levels. I understand that a Magic system can either make or break a setting, therefore, I'd like to devote some time to developing a convincing Magic system. Since this system is integrated not only into my stories but my table top system as well, it'll be important to strike a compromise between game mechanics and story- telling elements. I enjoy these prompts for the opportunities they provide!
I personally invite you to join me on this adventure for the next few months! Included with this Article is the "Pathon Development Changelog", where I blog and post updates. Feel free to have a look around! I'll also include any progress or WorldEmber related Articles in the sidebar. I've enabled my competitor settings, so let's do this!

WEEK 1: MAKE THE PLEDGE!
In Week 1, we made our pledge to create content throughout the month of December. I declare that I will write 25K or more on the Magic System, Laws of Magic, and Spellcraft Traditions found throughout the Pathon setting! This will include defining the system, determining whether or not it is a "Hard" or "Soft" Magic System, and exploring it's application in daily life. Let's have a good time! : D
WEEK 2: FORM THE META!
In Week 2, we delve deep into our individual Projects to create a Meta; what is a "META"? It is a form that describes your Project, goals and motivations, and intriguing prompts that help to define your vision. It is a challenging process but it is most satisfying once complete! I urge you to continue with your work and if you have a moment, check out the new Meta Page!
WEEK 3: UPDATE HOME PAGE!
Week 3's task is to perform updates on the Home Page. The idea is to present the world as you would like to see it as a reader. This week, I officially changed my name from "Rock Harvey" to "Myth X"! I made several updates to reflect the new persona, including new images and a seperate profile for Myth X. These are the final weeks before WorldEmber! Best wishes!
WEEK 4: COMMUNITY
In Week 4, we were asked to support others in the Community. Over the weekend, I asked for help and advice from the community, created a forum post and was pleasantly surprised! I met a nice group of great writers and game masters! Together, we decided to start a small support group amongst ourselves. As a group, we provide each other with support and encouragement, feedback and a civil environment to share ideas! Each of their worlds are immense and highly detailed- with some having multiple worlds with over 350+ Articles! I'm going to include their Worlds here as well- check them out and explore their worlds too! : D
This will be my 1st time participating in WorldEmber. I've made the commitment to write atleast 25k Words on the Magic System of Pathon, but my hope is to write even more than that!
Magic, in any fantasy setting, has the ability to create issues w/ plot, characters or the general versimilitude of a setting. In Pathon, Magic should feel as natural as the air; it fills every corner and plane of the world, making miracles out of nothing and everything. It's an obfuscated subtlety of Life understood by the inhabitants of Pathon- even those that don't understand Magic still see it manifested in their own Lives. It is tangible, bartered and sold, existing as much in busy cities as it does in the verdant wilds. Pathon highly reflects a modern world in a magic/ fantasy setting- as such, many modern conveniences are the constructs of magical artifice.
AH! I could keep talking about it here but I'm going to save the specifics for WorldEmber! The Pathon series and the totality of my work are my Magnum Opus- this is my Great Work! Naturally, many things that I believe will come up in the writing but this is a work of fiction at the end of the day. My purpose is to entertain as much as it is to explore. Beyond telling a tale about mysticism, I'd like to tell stories about people who are challenged and don't find magical solutions to every problem. I don't want people to think there are "magical wands" that can solve their solutions! A world of Magic is as dangerous as it can be- but it can also be exciting and thrilling! To defy once-bound limitations and move into unknown territories is as terrifying as it is wonderful! Living in Superposition of Joy and Sorrow is Life!
It has been an extraordinary month for me and I can't wait to see how this will progress into the holiday season! Best of Good Luck to everyone! I'll see you, WorldEmber in December! : D
