Geometer's Armguards

"Who said Geometry didn't have it's applications? "
— a Metamancer casting Force Deflector

Geometer's Armguards are a pair of studded-leather bracers. The Armguards are tethered in leather cords around a pyramid that rests firmly against the backs of the hand. Geometric patterns run the length of the bracers.

When a Caster uses the spell Force Deflector, they are able to project the square or triangle shapes of these spells to includes others, besides themselves. This effect is similar to the Range-Finder Magical Talent, except as described below.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Normally, the Range-Finder Talent only works once per encounter. These bracers can be used multiple times through a day.

Geometer's Armguards provide an additional +1 AR. If the Caster is under the effect of Force Deflector, their effective Amor Rating is +2 (both effects stack).

When the wearer of the Geometer's Armguards casts the spell Force Deflector, they can choose new targets besides themselves as recepients of the spell. Multiple Force Deflector effects can't affect a single Subject at any given time. The wearer of the bracers chooses either a square or triangle shape to impart onto the Subject, providing it's benefits as the spell.

Unlike the spell, if this effect is used on another Subject besides the owner, the spell doesn't push people 5ft. back when it ends from damage prevention.

Manufacturing process

The leather armguards are first crafted using the Enchanted Leather. A layer of soft padding is fitted into the inner arms, sewn by enchanted thread. Studs made of circles and squares are bound and embroidered into the armguard, setting the forearm in place. The wristguards are drawn with the magic cord and 3 plates of hardened leather completes the Geometer's Armguards.

The Armguards were favored by teachers as demonstrative aids, allowing them to expand their spell-casting abilities within a classroom without sacrificing their own reserves of Source. In traditional schools, a favored pupil may receive these as a gift from a beloved mentor.
