Nephilim/Gibborim

(Angel, Demon)—These beings were the infamous hybrids that were fathered by wayward angels on human mothers. Indeed, this sinful act sufficed to turn the angels into fallen angels, and their human mothers into sirens. There was some variation, but Nephilim appeared as giant humanoids, and while legend holds that these giants were about 460’ tall, the reality of it probably was nearer to 16’ to 19’ in height, and those after the flood around 11’ tall.. They had extra-digitation for their hands and feet, with six fingers or toes on each appendage. They had double rows of teeth. Some had red hair and white complexions. There were at least three tribes of nephilim, one being a snake-headed hybrid group; one being a long-necked hybrid group; and a group that possessed perfect, near-instant regeneration. These beings were physically mighty, super intelligent, and they had powerful magic abilities and mental powers. Scholars and kings among them possessed significant angelic lore, granting them astounding celestial powers and encyclopedic knowledge. A tiny minority of Nephilim were good or neutral, but most were depraved and wicked. They were blood drinkers, cannibals, and carnivores, and they happily devour humans. When Nephilim died, their souls manifested as demons in Hell, accounting for most of the Nhether Realm’s evil denizens. Nephilim that mated with mortals produced Elioud, a different race covered elsewhere. Most Nephilim went extinct during the Great Deluge, yet many survived and lived on into classical history. Most mythological and modern “monsters” are Nephilim descendants, and here is a list of named Nephilim and their descendants, if any: • Ara • Edem • Elme—Giants • Endrais • Ett—Dragons • Gelp—Ogres • Gno • Lidoum • Rais—Others, Faeries, Elves • Rhost—Chimeric beings • Sethimun • Tort—Sea monsters

Nhyrak Shadow Wings

(Demon)—Created by Nhyrakar as messengers, spies, assassins and skirmishers, these demon hawks are huge, having eight foot wingspans, rusty red coloration, black sawtooth beaks and black lidless eyes. They are composed of multiple imps fused into their hawk-like shape. When they hit a victim with their beaks, they suck blood as if they were giant mosquitos. These avians are sentient, speak Aenglik and Nhetherspeak, and know many diabolical spells. They are only hit by enchanted weapons and otherwise are treated as demons. Shadow Wings are canny by imp standards, and they have a taste for mortal eyeballs. If “killed,” the hawk will explode into its component imps and fly in all directions.

Nightmare

(Demon)—This is a demonic horse that invades human dreams and feeds off mortal terror. If manifested, it will be as oily black horses that breath fire and brimstone. Some nightmares have fangs, some appear to be decaying, and some set the ground alight with hellfire as they gallop.

Nightmare Monk

These undead are a horrifying subset of ghost. They once were monks in an unnamed monastic order, but they devoted themselves to the study of necromancy and summoning demons until the situation got out of hand. The demons killed the monks by ripping out their eye, genitals, and hearts in that order. Now these dead monks are doomed to undeath, and they haunt their old cloister, seeking new victims to reclaim their lost body parts. The nightmare monks are blind until they steal fresh eyes, and if they follow that up with genitals and a heart, their spirit is released and sent away to the appropriate afterlife. While blind, the nightmare monks are not disadvantaged because they have developed excellent proximity awareness.

Noirites/Dark Prateans

(Humanoid, Demon)—This is a hybrid of the Elioud and Pratean races. They are beautiful, have extended lifespans, great magik and wicked dispositions. Civis Noir was their home, and they are functionally extinct, only living on as a handful of vampire elders such as Ghol and Talespinner. They worshiped demons and loved perverse, aberrant lifestyle. Noirites were short compared to their parent lineages, bing only about 6’ tall.

Oak Maiden

(Elemental)—This is a dryad variant common to Blackvale in Aorlis, and into the Baelric Hills as well. Oak Maidens, like their home tree, may live up to 900 years old, or as long as their home oak survives, whichever is shorter. These maids are celebrated for their great wisdom. They believe in justice and honesty, and possess superhuman strength and endurance. Killing the maid’s home oak tree kills her, and killing her destroys her home oak. If an oak maid is long separated from her tree, then she grows weak and will waste away, killing both her and her tree. If she falls in love with a human, however, and marries him, she is separated from her tree and becomes human with extended longevity, physical strength and endurance. Such unions usually come with rules and caveats, and if the man breaks them, the oak maid will revert to her old identity and reunite with her source tree. Oak maidens have forest related powers, but they are also susceptible to lightning strikes. In addition to knowing local human languages, oak maidens speak the arboreal language of trees.

Odd Tappers

(Demon, Faerie)—Native to Odby Magna in Karlionne, these spirits or creatures are called Odd Tappers, thought etymology of their names is lost in the murk of folklore. They are tricksters who hop around the town’s roofs and over walls to kidnap pets, children and street vendor’s goods. (They are rumored to eat what they steal, but this has never been verified.) Tappers are clever and rarely seen, and locals consider them to be terrible nuisances. In snow, mud, soot or rain, they leave behind hoof prints. They appear as fiendish children with goat hooves, and they cackle much as do goats. Odd Tappers can leap 30’ or 40’ feet, have supernatural dexterity, and they travel at superhuman speed.

Ogre

(Giant)—These are brutish proto humans, about 8 to 10’ tall, with well-muscled frames, enormous fists and feet, and light green skin. Ogres have dark hair, squarish heads, beady red eyes, small pointed ears, under bites with small tusks protruding from the lower jaw, and flat slits for noses. Few ogres live to old age, but those that do often are subject to obesity and have spindly legs. They are exceptionally tough and can pull through shocking injuries that would kill most humans or giants. These oversized brigands are nocturnal, seeing well in the dark, but the sun blinds and pains them. They are aggressive, stubborn, and happy to cook unlucky prisoners for supper, but also keen on interbreeding with humans and larger giants when the occasion arises. Ogres can speak broken human languages in guttural tones, and scavenge weapons and clothing, mixing and matching their apparel as they do.
