Karlionne Theme Knights

Knights with a Purpose!

In Karlionne, upon receiving the accolade, each newly made knight is granted a theme. If the knight doesn’t decide on his theme in advance, one will be provided for him during the ceremony. Only the sovereign or his duly appointed stand-ins may create knights in Karlionne, and the ceremony is hideously expensive, and comprises a week of celebrations, feasts, religious rites, overnight fasts and prayer. The theme is singular for each knight, although it may be inherited, and its duration is lifelong. The theme dictates the knight’s crest, but he may well extend it into decorating his clothing, mount, heraldry and home.
Themes affect the knight’s mission, serving as a symbol of his mission. For example, the Knight of Votives would be committed to defending the Faith, Pilgrims, and the Church. The Knight of Roses might be devoted to love, defending lovers, championing maids in tournaments, etc. Examples of themes:
  • Architecture—Bridge, Gates, Towers, Walls
  • Duties—Quests, Redemption, Mercy, Justice
  • Emotions—Love, Loyalty, Compassion
  • Flowers—Daisies, Roses
  • Metals—Steel, Bronze, Brass
  • Miscellaneous—Tomes, Grimoires, Shackles
  • Mythological—Unicorns, Pheonix
  • Religion—Prayer Beads, Votives, Censors
  • Traits—Devotion, Righteous Rage, Temperance
  • Weapons—Lances, Axes, Maces
