Greythorne

Greythorne is a small island in the Sea of Arlin, between continental Kainded and Yndad. It once belonged to Aorlis and the Rhonce, specifically Hempton, but it is claimed by Uadan too. While its status as a state is limbo, that doesn’t mean that it has no rulers. Half of the island belongs to Yrostes and the Crimson Cabul, and the other half to the Sea Serpents (a powerful pirate state). Yrostes and the Serpents have teamed up for defense in the past, and both have been practical when protecting Greythorne is required. Yrostes keeps a secret prison for the Aorlisian emperor, and he also possesses a unique hall of mirrors.

Because of this alliance, many believe Aorlis prefers to maintain Greythorne’s extra-state status. The island’s two towns are Greythorne town (Yrostes), and Numont Bay town (the Serpents). The island’s climate is chaparral, and there are few natural resources here despite Greythorne’s strategic value. There is no set language spoken here, and one may hear Nanglik, Aenglik, Pigeon Aenglik, Uadan, and almost any other. There are a few churches here, but on one religion holds sway, and religious tolerance is surprisingly high. Greythorne belongs to the Aorlisian economic sphere, but it is the black market that rules here. For the right price, one may buy almost anything here.
