Fleet
Free Reavers
Roving the Corlin Ocean, these pirates are referred to as the Terror of the High Seas, the Dread Sails of the Corlin, and the Scourge of the West. It is ruled by the storm king, a shadowy figure said to be a dismantled knight with a grudge. The Free Reavers occasionally have hired out as mercenaries, especially to Burlam or Eldris. They operate out of a small enclave in Reaver’s Bay, West Spur, Eldris, the Marcelle. They have other enclaves dusted around the Corlin Ocean’s many islands. The Free Reavers fly the thunderbolt flag.
Golden Fleet
Made up of lumbering hulks, and based in Baelrin City, Beck County, Kaldur, this armada is Aorlis’ national, standing navy. Royal Gwyfnedi money built this armada, but traditionally the Count of Baelrin commands it. The Golden Fleet’s flag is emblazoned with a golden sea dragon (as opposed to a sea serpent). These ponderous ships are heavily armed, and many Gwyfnedi knights and nobles have served in the Golden Fleet. Many outlaws have also served because a year at sea buys them a royal pardon.
Sea Lions
Named after those ferocious marine predators, sea lions, this is the standing fleet of Burlam, a burgeoning sea power on the world stage. This multipurpose fleet functions as merchants, explorers, in a military capacity, and even state-sanctioned piracy. A mariner’s compass adorns their flag, and the Lapstrake League often hires the Sea Lions to protect their merchant fleets.
Sea Serpents
This pirate league operates around the Sea of Arlin. They prey on naval trade and port towns, but they occasionally they have hired out to Hexton or the Alusian League. Their business model comprises extorting towns and other shipping concerns for protection money, and they make a profitable living from this. The Sea Serpents are merciless whenever towns or sea traffic resists paying, and the pirates execute everyone who cannot afford a punishing ransom. The Serpents fly the sea serpent flag, and their largest base is on Greythorne Island.
