Most Holy and Supreme Chivalric Order of the One True Chalice

Based in the Marcelle, and called the Most Holy and Supreme Chivalric Order of the One True Chalice, these knights answer to the High King Marcelle, and their patron saint is officially Torenth, although in their private rites they venerate Saint Wollyn. Chalice Knights are chosen from among the gentry, mystics, and those who perform epic services for the crown. They have the reputation for piety, mystic visions, secret knowledge, and their order is ultra elite. Their mission is to distribute alms, build hospitals, free prisoners, and succor the faithful. They often embark on spiritual quests, and they are tied to mysticism in general. The order’s crest is a chalice above two knights kneeling in prayer on a field of sable and or. Their livery includes white mantle and a chalice tattoo on the knight’s inner forearm.

Chalice knights’ oath is believed to be the standard pledge, but they take an oath of secrecy as part of knighting ceremony, and rumor holds that it includes mystic elements. There are twelve Chalice knights, with no extranumerary members, and precedence within the order is determined by simple membership-dated seniority. The order’s benefits include the right of hospitality; complete remission of all prior sins; and right of clergy. They keep an impressive fortified commandery on Myston Isle, and they have sub-commanderies in Taeglos and St. Raths. Some Chalice Knights are minor order Mystonians, but the two organizations are not combined.
