The state has begun to fail, as the kingship is divided equally between two petty co-kings, Giles Otho and Brangwine Otho, his sister.

A divided house cannot flourish, and nobles have been split into opposing parties. Giles has been stricken infertile, and cannot father heirs, making the whole situation murkier.
