Cindt Keva

Sindt Kev-uh

A regional specialty now enjoyed by many throughout Ethiea, and one of the planets most popular exports, Cindt Keva comes from humble beginnings. Originally created as a way to utilize the leftover parts of a harvest, it's name means "last gift," and no two batches are the same. Full of sweet and subtle complex flavors, yet simple to prepare, it's perfect to start the morning with, or as an energy boosting snack in the afternoon.   Simply measure out a good helping of your Cindt Keva and mix with an equal amount of your choice of milk or yogurt, traditionally it's made with hemp milk, and let it sit for at least ten minutes or over night in the fridge. Then simply stir your Cindt Keva and top with bearded willow moss and small colorful flowers.

Ingredients

Though once limited to local ingredients Cindt Keva has evolved to include a wide variety of foods from around the Universe. The once plain cereal becoming a bright multicolored mix with links to many cultures.
Grains
Rolled, crushed, or left whole the mixture of grains are tossed together in a large pan and set over a low flame to toast until fragrant. Releasing the flavors and adding a delightful slight golden color to them.
  • Rolled oats, wheat, barley, cracked maize, rye
Seeds and Nuts
Before the grains have had time to cool the rest of the base ingredients are added in. Some recipes will add a dab of oil and a pinch of salt at this step.
  • Chia, pumpkin, flax, poppy, sunflower
  • Almonds, walnuts, pecans, pine nuts, hemp, coconut
Sweetener
Though considered optional by some many stick to the traditional recipe and add a sweet syrupy nectar local to Glasglow once the mixture has cooled to room temperature. Tossed in just enough to evenly coat the mix and set out to dry into small clusters, this process can be expedited by putting the Cindt Keva on a nonstick pan and placing it in the oven on it's lowest setting. However many prefer to avoid this method as it's easy to accidentally cook the Keva and ruin the flavor.
Fruits and Berries
Some Cindt Keva will come with dehydrated fruits and berries added to it, or you can get some without and add fresh seasonal options to yours. Popular choices include:
  • sliced peaches, pears, and apples, papaya, and dragon fruit
  • blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and grapes and raisins
Toppers
Once ready to be eaten it's considered essential to garnish your Cindt Keva with a generous helping of bearded willow moss and flowers to be considered 'true' Cindt Keva.   The light grayish green moss is packed with micro-nutrients and antioxidants that promote good health and adds a freshness unique to the fluffy plant. It's harvested from the breaded willows for which it is named and can be stored in the fridge for up to a week in a shallow dish of water.   The flowers, only a few centimeters in diameter, offer little more than aesthetic appeal with their bright colors. Their flavor is subtle yet sweet, adding to the nectar and fruit.
