Personal history

Before Carrass left to lead the soldiers to Illotos, he commanded the Warden of Erwick to have Gray to remain resting for at least ten days. After Gray demanded that the Warden take him to General Daerel have him released so he could ride out in battle.   Gray and his company retreated to Cair Siculus, an island off the coast of Tirafel that guarded the northern approaches to The Batesian Empire. After noting that the sky was now covered in complete darkness, Gray sent his company south to reinforce the garrison at Illitos while he and three of his men rode to The Batesian Empire directly. Along the way, they were pursued by the Nightwalkers. The men, except Gray, were unhorsed and it was the General, a master of both beasts and men, who was still horsed and rode back to aid the fallen. If Carrass had not intervened, they would have surely perished.   He took time across Akeroth clearing out the hidden camps of Nightwalkers & Ar-Seid loyalists. It took him 45 years to complete this campaign but had been sure he had cleared out every trace of the Nightwalkers in Akeroth.   Arriving at Erwick in 45 A.B.E, Gray reported to Choomba who had assumed control of Erwick on his return from the past. Choomba was angered that Gray had not brought back any meaningful information about the lost temples of the Gods.   Choomba sent his remaining soldiers to hold Western Gates against the hosts of the Enemy that outnumbered their own greatly. Although Gray disagreed with this strategy, he agreed to go.   After a day of fighting, the Dark Lord's remaining army overwhelmed the men of Erwick and won the battle. Gray drew back to the Causeway Forts, the defence of which lasted another day, with many of the defenders being wounded or killed. Gray decided to stay with the rearguard in order to make sure that the retreat over Runo Mountains would not turn into a rout. As the force neared Erwick it was overtaken by Goblins and Daerel was gravely wounded by a poisonous arrow. Fortunately, Choomba led a cavalry sortie that successfully covered the retreat. Grey bore Daerel back to Erwick, telling him that he had done great deeds.   Sometime later he would meet the Beldinner Plates while hunting illegal monster sellers. With the help of the group, he was allowed access into the Faewild, where he would discover the group standing over the deceased body of his brother. Taking an oath of vengeance, Grey promised that the group would face his wrath one day.
