The Fusion Opti-Chromakinesis Effect

The Fusion Opti-Chromakinesis Effect or FOCE phenomenon is a chromosomal abnormality that occurs amongst the Mage population. To the naked eye, they seem ordinary, but when these gifted Mages come in contact with a Fusion Crystal, their irises glow a deep purple color.
Unfortunately, in recent years implantable biotech lenses have been surfacing on the black market that are able to artificially recreate this phenomenon, so the only true sign of a Mage these days is a red star-shaped blood vessel hidden inside the left lower eyelid. Once this is found, they are inducted into the Mage's Guild and their training begins.
