Grace Doyle in Adventures Untold | World Anvil

Grace Doyle

Born and raised in Dublin, Grace studied linguistics and anthropology at Trinity College. As her family was both politically and militarily active in the Irish independence movement, she followed her mother’s advice to “get away from here for a wee bit.” The subsequent years were spent in the Americas, where she lived with various indigenous people, recording their histories and folklore.

Stunts

When in Rome
Having dealt with everyone from Kings to hunter-gatherers, you've learned a thing or two about getting along with other people. You don't suffer any social or cultural penalties when negotiating with other people.

You may also spend a Fate Point when dealing with someone outside of what might be considered "western civilized cultures" in order to impress them with understanding of their local customs. (Let's face it, no one expects a pale woman with flaming red hair to understand the nuances of their decidedly non-Irish traditions.)
It’s an Old Native Remedy
In your time in the wilderness, you’ve learned a lot from tribal healers. If you have access to local plants and fungi, you can treat most medical conditions using your Wilderness ability rather than Science.
The Gift of the Gab
Given a few hours of listening or a couple of days with access to some writing and there are few languages that you can’t speak or read.

Languages similar to things you already know come quickly, while anything truly unique may take more time. But assuming that there is enough material to study, you can almost certainly puzzle it out eventually.
