Esperanza Vittoria Galano

Esperanza is an offshoot on Spain’s rather overgrown royal family tree. Simultaneously a second cousin once removed and a third cousin of the king through different branches, she was destined to be married off to yet another Bavarian prince until that event was postponed by the outbreak of the Great War and then canceled as a result of the battlefield demise of said prince. More or less forgotten by her father, Esperanza spends much of her time playing tennis and engaging her interests in the occult.

A lifetime of living in palaces, castles, and mansions has taught you how to recognize things built to remain hidden. You get a +2 bonus when searching for hidden doors, panels, controls, etc.

I Have the Strangest Feeling

You are open to the strange and paranormal – though sometimes that means letting in the Unpleasant Things from the Darkness and other such nuisances. You may deliberately use your Mysteries skill to gain some mystic insight into the occult “climate” of an area, as if it were Notice – using a similar time-frame and gaining a similar level of (paranormal) detail. You may also use Mysteries instead of Notice when surprised, if the origin of the surprise is in some way supernatural.
Used with this stunt, Mysteries can give you access to information that would normally be impossible to get – though that information may not be apparent in any clear fashion. Muddled riddles and vague intimations are the mode of the day when dealing with the occult.
There is an additional catch: Using this ability may open you up to an unpleasant psychic attack by the presence or residue of Unnatural Creatures that have touched the area… but at least you’ve learned something.

I Know Your Weak Spot

You instinctively figure out people’s soft spots, without even having exchanged a conversation with them. Just a quick once-over will give you the ammunition that you need. You gain a +2 when assaulting a person verbally.
