Urumah Species in The Garden that Burned | World Anvil

Urumah

Brief Overview

These creatures were a specific breed of Eldergen that were born from the raw elements created during the Big Bang. They were capable of building amazing structures, including things originally out of reach for even the deities of the cosmos. They could build smaller things like objects and artifacts, but they were mainly known for their ability to build outlandish megastructures within the farthest reaches of the cosmos.

General Overview

The Urumah were known as the most capable of the Eldergen, both in regards to their abilities, and their outstanding resilience. These creatures were said to be massive, though their size and shape varied on what they built and which materials they chose to build with. It is said that with each new creation, they would shrink significantly, and only near the end of their lifespan could they safely land on a celestial body without causing planetary destruction.
With creation, must come destruction. So is the natural balance of the cosmos. But only the wise understand that destruction need not be ripe with heartache. The end poses a potential for many new beginnings, and even destruction can be a thing of beauty.
This is the only known passage left behind by an Urumah, and it was written in Tae scripture found engraved on the inside of a planetary megastructure that resembles a white dwarf. This structure still exists to this day, thousands of millennia after its creation, however, it can only be found hundreds of lightyears from Totus Stellae, meaning most mortals will never live to see it.

The Urumah were immune to time and as such, did not age the way an average mortal would. They did not require oxygen or any form of sustenance. They simply existed. Due to the elements they were comprised of, they were either resistant or immune to damage caused by most dangers both the cosmos and the creatures surviving within could throw at them. Unfortunately, despite their astounding natural defenses, these creatures would be the cause of their own undoing.
Urumah were capable of building anything they thought about. A simple thought would become a complex design which they could bring to life using pieces of themselves. They've been said to have built massive cosmic structures, stellar clusters, items so magical even deities fear them, and even living creatures. It is known only by the most ancient of gods that the birth of Myamya was due to the death of the last Urumah, but it is understood by any who knew of them that the unfortunate truth is, the Urumah built themselves into oblivion.

History

Their Wisdom

Before they were built by the cosmos the first naturally formed atoms were created within the Urumah, which helped to form their bodies in less than 1 minute by collecting nearby materials and elements brought forth by the Big Bang. What is little known to mortals throughout the entirety of their lifespan was immediately understood by the Urumah. Their greatest wisdom was in understanding that the universe existed as a continuous cycle.
Each black hole to be formed in their future was nothing but a pathway back to the great beginning, meaning every element and material to ever exist would be shot through the universe at its start. Only after cosmic entropy, when the black holes not only consumed everything, but when they ultimately deteriorated past even their life cycles and everything was said to end. When the expansion of the universe eventually reversed and the universe collapsed back into itself, creating the next universal expansion. Then, and only then could they begin their lives anew.
Nothing truly ended, which for those with enough patience, left only new beginnings...
EXTINCT
Conservation Status
The Urumah were masters of building astounding structures otherwise unfathomable to most species in the cosmos. Unfortunately, despite their inability to suffer damage from external forces, the Urmah believed in maintaining a natural order in the newfound universe, so they chose to use their own materials, meaning, the more they built, the less of them was left to sustain life within. This was mainly due to the fact that the Big Bang shot many elements and materials far beyond their reach, creating a scarcity of building materials as the new stars and planets were beginning to form. Because of their beliefs of sustaining new life so it could later thrive, they would literally build themselves out of existence... They are known to be extinct, and the only remnants of this once magnificent species lie in the marvelous items & structures they left behind.
