Gravitational Conversion Metric

A gravitational conversion metric is metric artifact/topological defect which converts infalling matter into gravitational radiation (gravitational waves). These metrics are a crucial component of gravitational impellers.
Hexamite cosmosynths are propelled by gravitational conversion metrics, and it is from this source that Starweb civilization gets almost all of the ones it uses. Efforts to develop a "home-brewed" GCM have been ongoing since the Second Interstellar Period, to little success. While wormholes emit gravitational radiation in their collapse process, they also liberate a portion of their mass as a colossal explosion, rendering them utterly unsuitable for this purpose. The most recent attempt at a GCM, the Monson metric, failed in a spectacular blast which pulverized the test facility and the asteroid it was built into.
The Existential Risks Directorate watches this field with great interest, as a viable method for producing conversion metrics without needing to scavenge or hunt them from Hexamite Space would make impeller spacecraft much more accessible.
