Adventures of Mossy: #3 - New Livery

I caught my reflection in a mirror of water today... Last time I did that I looked so different - I still remember. I've never thought much of my appearance before. But I'm clearly growing with time. That's useful to know!
I found folks like me. They smell familiar but they are not quite the same as the scent I smelled near my Shell, ages ago. No. These folks are not me's, but they come close to it.
I followed their tracks and discovered their HQ. They operate out of Crater Lake area. I had never been there before, but since then I've come to appreciate this place. The lake is big and fat like a giant pool, although it's not fed by rivers yet never runs dry. Magic? Possible. Though I suspect it might be fed from underneath, some kind of underwater cave, maybe...
Nevermind, I've got to learn to not overload my brain.
So... I've grown, then! I guess. I keep looking at the water mirror as I stand on the grassy shore. I've shed the mostly green livery and more shades have grown. My back is striped brown and the feathers on my belly are shorter, lighter, and softer. I've also developed into a more athletic physique and my claws are so much more powerful. Even my teeth are meaner. Yes, I feel more powerful and aggressive.
I do not waste my time on ants anymore... Oh no! Ha! You see? I have now become the terror in the dark for the creatures in the undergrowth. If I hope to catch any of those small herbivores I cannot advertise myself, I must use the dark, and my colours, to become invisible, quiet, a ghost of death.
I have much to learn still. If we had to be analytical, I'd say my success rate is about... Urrmmm... Let's see:
