Kobold

Kobolds are often met with mistrust and hatred, often being seen as weak cannon-fodder for the aspiring adventurer to test their mettle on. However, kobolds actually have a thriving and structured society with laws, rules, and even military formations and tactical prowess.

Created to Serve

The first kobold, Kurtulmak was created by the dragon deity Caesinsjach in order to serve the dragon courts. After ascending to godhood, Kurtulmak then created the race of kobolds in his image and gave them an innate ability to serve those in power. In every kobold society, there is a chain of command that is never questioned and followed without hesitation.

Arcane Theft

Long ago, the first kobold snuck into the lair of an ancient dragon deity named Caesinsjach and stole magic, gifting it to his race. Kobolds treasured this gift ever since and those skilled in the arcane arts quickly rose in power throughout the various tribes.

Plentiful Numbers

Kobolds have an incredibly fast growth rate and if not for their short-lived lives, they would amass numbers that would be enough for them to take over. Even though a kobold can live to be around 120 years old, they seldom see past 20 due to accidents, illness, or dying in combat.

A kobold is considered a mature adult at the age of 6 and begins layer 5-6 eggs every year from then on. After about 3 months, the egg will hatch and a new kobold will join the ranks of the tribe.

Natural Habitat

Kobold societies usually amass in great numbers in caves and tunnels and excel greatly at spelunking with a natural ability akin to dwarves (but don't tell them that). Since they are cold-blooded creatures, they prefer warm, tropical places on Oryth, retreating to the equator's caverns. Preferring hills and mountains, they tuck themselves into valleys fruitful with life and easy targets subject to ambush.

They will often lay in wait at the unsuspecting traveler or merchant, hoping for an easy kill and rewarding hunt.

Divine Vengence

Long ago, before recorded history and shortly after the Divine Spark, the god of the gnomes, Garl Glittergold collapsed a mountain on the first kobold and their soon-to-be god, Kurtulmak, leaving him for dead. This discretion was due to the kobold chieftain enslaving entire nations of gnomes. However, gifted from the dragon god Asgorath for the deeds of Kurtulmak in life, he ascended to godhood gaining purview over the race of kobolds. History is truly written by the victor, however, as the legend now goes that the collapsing of a tunnel was merely a harmless prank that the kobold never got over, even sparking the "Finc!" tradition on the Brevis Solsitce.
