Chapter V: Unsmooth Sailing

General Summary
The sails of the small river boot gently flutter against the wind. The twilit sky above shows the scatting of stars all around. In the distance, barely visible a shadow quickly darts from behind one tree to the next. You are being followed...
Traveling north toward their destination, seeking the wisdom of one Autumn Snow, our adventurers find themselves swaying on the river-bound paths. Helmed by a halfling captain, Morris, and two human crewmates, Clint and Ophis, they sail onward toward their first stop, the small riverside community of Fülùkôn. June quickly realizes they are being followed by and surrounded by a group of small humanoids that quickly attack. Kobolds spring into action and a battle ensues.
Using the land, darkness, and range to their advantage, the kobolds launch a coordinated attack attempting to take out the captain with crossbows as mystical scarecrows that accompany them launch firebolts at the mast and sail of the ferry while other kobolds attempt to board the ship, springing into melee with the adventurers. In the midst of the battle with sails burning, Adriak uses his divine prowess to summon water dosing the flames while Clint and Ophis assist with buckets on the rope and mast. Their combined efforts put the fire out completely.
Adriak seemed to summon the very twilight above into razor-sharp stars sliced into their foes. Juniper, with his axe aloft, tapped into his emotional rage, piercing the veil into the Fey Wilds, summon explosive spriggans that catapulted themselves to his foes while Zal launched offensive spells of dark energy from beyond the Ethereal.
The battle was won and the exhaustion from the skirmish caught up with our heroes. Taking shifts to rest, they kept out a keen eye around the surroundings as to not be surprised once more. Zal's watch was uneventful, though when it came to Adriak's a familiar dark shadow crept onto the boat, attempting to engulf the cervitaur before the force of will was fought off by the strong-minded cleric. Choosing to keep this event to himself, Adriak rested as June took the next and final watch.
A short time into his watch, June noticed a tall, cloaked figure attempting to rummage through Zal's belongings. He crept up to the being, placing a dagger to the back of his head. The thief turned around slowly, showing his unarmed hands. Demanding to remove the cloak, the figure obliged, revealing dark purplish skin and silvered hair with the piercing eyes of a drow. A symbol around his neck clasped the cloak in place. Before the encounter could escalate, the figure seemed to turn into mist before disappearing completely without a trace.
