Liberated Sky People

Origin and Context.

The slavery of Forkden is one of indentured servitude. In years past, a decision was made to allow companies and organizations to own slaves en masse, making it even more often a situation. Some companies have only the absolute minimum of employees to manage the slaves that now perform the work required. This is in majority limited to Forkden, but some companies have attempted to push this into other countries via use of the Train Line and Airships.
This does cause conflict with other countries at times when it is discovered airships have been outfitted for mining and are loaded to bear with slaves to undercut local workers. However, the slaves are heavily protected by the laws of Forkden and when they organize in key ways, they can come out of the situation with pay and a large bonus. Slaves are assigned to contracts in mass bulks, especially those hired by companies are often slaves for the same amount of time and are released around the same period of time.
Practices such as these have been going through massive rewrites to fix loopholes that the “Liberated Sky People” found. Namely that when a slave has been held in a single area for the majority of the time they were a slave, they can claim a small plot of land on the grounds. Generally, the process goes with a back and forth barter between the owner and the now-freed slave, ending with a fair price depending on the usefulness of the slave.

When the master of the slaves, heard the rejoining cry.
Overbought and underprepared, he was caught surprised.
His many slaves purchased for want were in this way disguised, they laid their claim upon his head and he couldn’t fight.
The magistrate came to see, the masses all to be freed.
But the slaves had held and said to be, our manor this is tonight.
And when the master of the slaves, finally realized.
To his misfortune and dismay, he had been robbed blind.
For his many slaves had made their claims upon being freed. Their claim was to his bed, and steps and land all agreed.
The magistrate did decree, his land now belonged to them.
And the slaves now took this as their winning hymn!
And when the Master of the slaves sobbed his final goodbye,
The slaves did cheer for they were the freemen who now slaves could buy.
— A folk song about a foolish master that purchased too many slaves that he couldn’t support.

A @Togasei airship often has 100 slaves with 20 freemen as supervisors. In the year 1070, the first group of slaves to truly take advantage of this in the new era filed their claims with the magistrate of the port they were in. And they claimed the entire ship.
The corporations quickly began rewriting the laws, but didn’t manage to pass limitations on the loophole until 1100. In this time, 23 more groups of slaves claimed Togasei airships and aligned themselves with the first. Forming the “Liberated Sky People”.

The Liberated Sky People

The organization consists of 23 Togasei airships with around 2300 people living on the ships themselves. The majority of them live similarly as they did before they claimed the ships; trade, transport and other venues being open and always needed.

The skies are home and ours to roam.
