History

Printers one of the best inventions of all time. In the age before The Collapse they were everywhere, in our homes, in our offices, used whenever we had to 'print something out' because someone still refused to accept documents with digital signatures. Any document of any kind was created on some sort of 'printing press' or 'printer', that is until the collapse. There are lots of printers, but without electricity to run them everyone was forced to use pen and paper again. Where was the problem you ask? People's handwriting is horrible, that's the problem. How are we supposed to read things if people can't even write in a straight line?


Magic now exists in the world, and one who happened to obtain it and survive was none other than Doris Printer. Doris was once an executive assistant for a tech company, and a ghostwriter. Why is this important you ask? Ask yourself, without a computer how was an author to continue to write things. Her own answer was through the use of magic, the problem was she couldn't create things out of nothing, only manipulate things that exist.


She was looking around one day and saw her printer, and just happened to have a stack of fresh printer cartridges. She had an idea and over time was eventually able to infuse her magic into the print cartridges to make what she called the 'Hand Printer'.

Description and Use

A 'hand printer' is but a magically enchanted print cartridge, so they come in many shapes and sizes. To use, one must merely hold it in their hand, have paper nearby, and think how and what they wish to write to paper. Ink is of course a limited resource, and just like as any print catridge can run out of ink, so can the 'hand printer'. Part of the magic infused infused into the hand printer not only lets the user print, but allow them to know roughly how much more they can write before needing more ink. The 3rd magical part of the hand printer is its ability to magically obsorb ink and refil from any external ink source. Doris didn't want them to be disposable and fill the land with more trash, her goal was to make something that was reuable for all. To refil the ink, simply place the hand printer near some ink and think 'refil'.

Limitations

Print cartridges only have one reservoir, so take care when you refil the the hand printer so that you aren't mixing inks. -- Sadly the times of printing in blended colors has come to an end, unless you can find all the things needed to use a printer the way it was intended to be used. Maybe Doris can work creating a color hand printer next.
