Inspired by the heroics of the
Night Champions, who fought against the nocturnal invasions in the regions of the Spine, the Obsidian Reach has gone on after their passing to carry on the knowledge gained from everything and gather what they know to
Founded by the granddaughter of Trefor and Syvana, Alyana Velanont, after their passing in order to continue the fight against the shadows both within Arvanoc and beyond in other regions, the Obsidian Reach first began as a guild devoted to investigating the dark reaches of the world and learn more as well as gather information that could be considered lost.
In different regions, the Obsidian Reach is much, much more than a trade guild spanning buildings devoted to different aspects of its purpsoe, but in the regions of the continent where there are not that many incursions of either rift or the shadows of dangerous mountains or canyons, it remains a guild and place of trade where quests can be found as well as where unique items purchased.
Unique to the Alliance
Beyond Arvanoc, the second region which the Reach is most prevalent is in the Alliance Kingdom also known as the Confederated States. Within these borders, there are many houses dedicated to the the Reach but the main three that are present in many cities are the Obsidian Sanctum, the main guild building, the Obsidian Market, the trade building, and the Obsidian Library, a place dedicated to the tomes that have been deemed important to the region as well as some deemed important to be featured in any and all libraries.
In the Obsidian Market though, there can be unique potions found that are sold to guild members for rather cheap than what it is found for in the black market or in other markets. These potions are made from fallen aíysfaer crystals that are crushed and mixed into potions. While the potions themselves are some found within regular markets, it is said that if the potion is particularly sweet smelling to the user then the effects would be potent and if used in a rather gradual and over a long period of time with the right potion, the effect could somewhat become permanent.
The Secret Ties
It is strange that there is a special rune emblazoned on many of the Obsidian Reach imagery as well as within the buildings themselves. It is said that Trefor and Syvana Valin were affiliated with the Goddess Valkeryth-- who gifted them their powers. However, it seems to be a secret that is well guarded amongst the higher ranks of the guild.
Many members do happen to notice that there are some who manage to move through the guild as if they belong there, despite them not being able to prove they are a part of the place.
