Shalheir, the Spire of Myrnava (Shall-AIR, Mir-NAH-vuh)

Deep in the heart of the mage academy, Myrnava, there stands an obsidian spire twisted from black stone rooted deep into the foundations of the earth. Around it mages gather not only to study but sometimes to reflect in awe at the emanating deep magic that is reflected in no other place in the kingdom.

History

After years of studying, mage studying the history of Raehal have determined that the spire predates not only the academy, which was founded in the first decade of the kingdom, but the migration of the elves to the lands itself. According to arcane historians that have spend time studying and reading the lore that the monument continues to give, the spire revealed that it was forged by the elven deity, Ainyrre, before they departed beyond the Celestial Divide. It serves as its own nexus point of magic instead of being a true cross between multiple leylines.   Almost every month, there has been an occasion where, a faint glow emanated from the stone. After several years of studying the events which took place at random times of day, it was determined that when the spire glows, divination magic was at its strongest with many immediate prophecies and auguries about the future of events in the elven kingdom and its people deemed more than certain. To avoid any possible drawbacks of this divination, many stronger mages refused to look more than a decade ahead in time.

Possible Revelation

Though there have been several mages hailing from the Wastes all claiming that it is reminscent of the great Spire located in the heart of the area, because no Raehalian mage has been able to confirm its existence, this is believed to only be a rumor until divination magics can determine the truth of the matter.   For now, arcanists believe that the spire is a gift for the gods, allowing mages to divine the best outcomes to help the elven kingdom survive and forsee any tragedies that could befall Auriga.
