Blades of the Mist Dragon

Forged from the teeth of the Mist Dragon's recent form and in a time where the future of Auriga was unknown and being fought for each passing day, this pair of blades became the first Arsuora when it was blessed by the Mist Dragon themself.

Made from the God

In the days when the Mist Dragon took form almost as soon as they could, the being found themself falling in the midst of extreme battle, mostly giving their lives to protect the mortal warriors against the void-like forces that threatened to lay waste to entire battlefields and regions.   As they recuperated their energy and remained in astral form, assisting where and when they could, the people took to making use of the dragon's body-- which remained on the mortal realm after their death, massive and left moreso to contribute something to the land and the people. After one of the dragon's falls, a mage decided to work with arcane smiths to create a pair of unique blades, intending to use them during battle as his arcane focus, but tragically, these blades could not help him for while they were made from the teeth of the great deity's avatar, the remains did not hold an ounce of their power.   Recovered by a scavenger of the battlefields and passed on via trade to the closest city in the lands of Zhadya, the blades would make their way through various hands until one day a teenage thief would lift it from an adventurer's pack to keep on him as a means of defense in his city as he hid away in an abandoned temple.

Dhirga, the Mist Dragon of Zhadya

The teenage thief who stole the blades considered them his lucky charms and he carried them with him everywhere, always managing to get through sticky situations either by using them or showing them off as a distraction. Not knowing where they truly came from, it was just by luck that he happened to be a follower in the tenets of Herrus, the god of thievery, who was known to be a travel companion to Aerhnd. Believing his good luck to be a sign from the god that he was in the right, Dhirga began to strike out in a way similar to the movements of the Mist Dragon, present in one place before blinking to another. Though he had used a network of friends and other stolen arcane artifacts to get this effect, the story of a blink-and-you'll-miss-him-thief spread wide and fast and within weeks, he had become known around the region as Zhadya's Mist Dragon-- one who stole from the inner circle of the region and terrorized the upper class.   While there are many well-known stories of Dhirga including his meeting of the princess, Bryga, and his adventures afterward, it was the story of the Battle of the Gold Canyon that many bards, historians, and families recount.
The Mist Dragon fell-- tired at last from the magics and the dark beings that tore into his body. He fell to the earth, trying to guide his fall behind enemy lines where his massive form could do the most damage. He wasn't ready to leave again as he still had so much he wanted to do, but he knew the war would not be won by intent and wishes. As his form fell against a mountain, breaking it off and sending it hurtling into the scattering darkness below, below-- a mere thief caught sight of another being hurtling towards it.   It was to be the dark mage's gift to the dark gods he served, but someone had beat him to it, had blinked there and stood before him. The mage believed he could turn the man to dust, but when he tried- when the thief still stood, brushing off the pain as if it were an inconvenience, he called forth the powers he used against the gods themselves for no mere mortal could stand against that.
— An excerpt from a tale of the Speakers
As the tale recounts, the Mist Dragon lay dying and Dhirga was not about to let his remains be harvested by the Archmage Yllendhr, known for his cruel acts of twisting the living and dead to serve the Void. Utilizing whatever he had left in him and the last wellsprings of magic he had on him, he wove through waves of mystical energy, blinking away faster than the enemy's eyes could spot him. In mere minutes, Dhirga shifted into the mage's field and struck twice, once across the throat and as he swung back around, once to the back of the skull.   Now, stuck behind enemy lines and watching them climb to him, Dhirga accepted his end but in that moment, the Mist Dragon wrapped around him and curled in tight against himself shielding the mortal from the onslaught and Dhirga saw nothing else but darkness close around him and then a bright white light.   According to all accounts, it was the only time there was no body left after Aerhnd's passing. Instead, all that he had left to contribute to the world became the energy that powered the blades, giving them the power that everyone craved... the power to travel endlessly in the blink of an eye.

As It Stands...

No one knows what happened to the blades after Dhirga fell in the final battle as one of the many holy warriors that had faced the ender of worlds and lost. It is said that his blades were recovered and buried with him, his tomb along with the princess's found empty three days later-- assumed to have been taken by the gods and placed in the sky as the moons that provide light in the darkness.   Many believe that Dhirga's blades lie on the green moon that bears his name and if one were to carry on his legacy and follow the path of the noble thief, they may call upon the moon and receive the same blessing as Dhirga once did.
