Vhcaerys Calareon
Arraidia
The youngest of the Calareon family. Exceptional socialite. Youngest in her house to bond with a dragon. Dragon rider to Cykar (75). Has a pet dwarf drake that never grew and cannot produce fire and it's always breathing smoke. She has a talent for slide of hand and pick pocketing, and is gifted at gambling with dice. The girl has a love for exploring where she should not be, and more than a few times her silver tongue got her out of sticky situations. She may not be as thick as thieves with her siblings, but she will happily take the tongue of anyone who speaks ill of her house.
Appearance And Character
Silver haired, with pale lavender eyes, pale complexion
Vhcaerys is proud and stubborn, and there is a certain petulance to her. She finds pride in being completely defiant and going against the expectations of everyone around her. She gives little thought to what's expected of a Lady, and is quite confident in herself, needing little to no reassurance from others. Angering her was not easily done due to her lack of concerns of what others had to say about her behavior. There are only two things in the world that bear any weight with Vhcaerys: Cykar, her rose red and golden dragon, and her freedom to do as she pleases.
Where most of her siblings found companions in one and other, Vhcaerys had a hard time feeling the bond the others shared. Although there is a moniker of respect she holds for her older siblings. All of them having their own talents and expressions of creativity. Although she is not a fan of being told what to do, she will listen to the head of the house. Her older sister and in the event that she is married she will of course listen to her husband… Well she'll try to.
As for her talents, she is quite the history buff, she has a gift for socializing and blending in. But her proudest talents are gambling and pickpocketing. Of course she is a talented dragonrider but as are most of her siblings, to say she stands out above any of the rest of them is impossible to say.
History
Youth
Father died almost exactly nine months before she was born. She found happiness and comfort in one place, her mother’s arms as she told her of the great stories of her father’s adventures on his dragon. Both of whom had died during the Rise of The Shadow. As her mother had to be the only parent to nine children due to the loss of her husband and sister wife, Vhcaerys was often left in the hands of the slaves of the house. The young girl befriended the daughter of her mother’s personal slave. For the most part she is left to her own devices, and becomes jokingly known as the forgotten child.
Bonding
Cykar had a spirit about him that was wild and unwilling to be tamed. He was a house castle dragon for five and sixty years before a young eight year old girl tamed his soul. He was raging in the dragon as the keepers were fighting to rear him back away from the others. As he snarled and swatted at those around him Vhcaerys walked over to the wild dragon. As he laid his eyes on her he bowed his head and hugged him, speaking to him a soothing “Lykiri”. The two were inseparable from that day forth.
Growing up Calareon
With the bond made with Cykar the young Calareon took to her studies, and began to bond more with her siblings. That was till she was two and ten, and fate would see it that she would spiral into a deep darkness.
For a year Vhcaerys did not speak a word, nor would she ride Cykar. The friendship she had made with her slave Shaina, would show value as Shaina was able to understand what Vhcaerys needed, without having to speak a word. It was Cykar who helped her find her voice. Cykar went wild in the pits again, creating such an uproar that it was discussed having their bond broken so that the beast could be freed as he was far too wild. As the dragon roared again in fury, Vhcaerys found herself again approaching the beast. Cykar could be heard letting out a breath of relief as he lowered his head as Vhcaerys hugged him and cried whispering to him “Usōven.”
Vhcaerys felt more at home with the common folk or slaves; she did not want to be tied down by the bindings of acting ‘a lady.’. As she approached her eighteenth birthday, the young woman began sneaking out at night. Dressed and shrouded in commoner clothing and would wander around the streets finding her way to take in a street performance, grabbing a drink at a tavern, or even hovering outside of brothels listening to the sounds of passion from within.
The youngest of her house would become very talented not only in gambling but in being a thief. She found that she loved winning when gambling so much that she would often cheat with weighted dice. She used her innocent disposition to swindle drunk men out of their coins and jewelry. And while she learned to cheat at dice, she also learned slide of hand and began grifting.
It was during a day where she had snuck out to the training grounds at the age of sixteen that she noticed the attention from men she was receiving. Everyone spoke of the beauties her sisters were but it finally dawned on Vhcaerys that men no longer looked at her as a child. Now there was a look that she knew too well. It was the one Cykar had when he spotted prey.
Vhcaerys refused to be a simple lamb for the wolves to circle. Instead the effort she once placed in hiding as a child was now focused on presenting herself in the most desirable way possible. The child who was not going to be told what to do had become the woman who was going to use all her assets to control her own destiny.
One night, accompanied with her slave and dearest friend Shaina, the young Calareon found herself at a street fair where there were a number of performers, food vendors and un savory ilk all out enjoying the night. Vhcaerys had been taught slide of hand by patrons she had befriended when sneaking away to taverns, and was becoming rather gifted at grifting. It was easy in a crowded bar where wine made everyone a bit oblivious to someone bumping into them but here in the wide open the dragon rider wanted to test her skills.
While a large group watched a play that was being presented to gathered masses, the girl set her eyes on a merchant she had only seen a few times before but truly knew very little of. Under the shadow of her heavy hooded cloak, Vhcaerys bumped into the man apologizing and acting extremely clumsy; she slipped a ring from his finger. Not even three feet from the man the young there was called out. Quickly she ran through alleyways and back streets, dodging guards and the merchant himself.
Luck would appear in the shape of her eldest brother. Running into him literally, she looked up at him with a panic. Hearing the approaching commotion, sighing he looked down at his youngest sister, and with quick thinking stripped the cloak from her, laced his arm with hers and began to stroll merrily around as proud Calareon's. The search for the hooded there carried on fruitlessly long past Vhcaerys being escorted home by her dear brother.
The youngest Calareon house was chastised for hours. Her favorite haunts and pastimes were brought into the light for her eldest sister Saethe, the head of their house, to see.
She would begin to focus on etiquette as Vhaena refused to allow her to attend any high society gatherings without proper training any longer. And was never to leave for the market, or taverns without telling one of her siblings. It was clear that the wild child was finally being wrangled in. With the help of Vaenyrara and the tutors Saetheprovided she began to learn in order to better blend into high society. However Saethe saw something in her youngest sister that none of her other siblings provided. The head of the house would groom Vhcaerys to use her ease of getting close to practical strangers and the teachings of etiquette to get close to those who has information to aid the house Calareon.
Vhcaerys found none that lived up to the expectations she had in a companion. She came to believe that no one was going to match her free spirit or need for adventure. All the men who sought her attention seemed to desire a demure soft spoken 'Lady' and the idea of such an existence annoyed her. She decided that her maidenhood was the second most valuable bargaining chip, aside from Cykar.
To ensure she ended up with the man she wished to marry, she would make sure that her maidenhood would remain intact till her wedding night. If a man wanted to be the first to spear the dragoness they had better show her that they were going to provide her the life she envisioned for herself, or he would never know her touch. Vhcaerys was becoming more and more convinced that there was no man from any house that was capable of giving her the passion she craved.

Is the rider of Cykar.
