Forging herself as “The Lady of Jewels.”

In her youth, Vhaela Aergyreon was perceived to be the delicate one of the family. She is a striking visage of her mother, beautiful in adolescence that only aged like wine as she grew older. Violet eyes and Silver hair marked her true heritage, pure dragon’s blood with fire in her veins.
Akin to her namesake, "the Lady of Jewels," Vhaela is often adorned in the finest light silks that drape gracefully around her figure. But what truly sets her apart is the resplendent display of jewelry that adorns her person. From glittering necklaces to intricate bracelets and rings, she wears a treasure trove of jewels that reflect her status and taste.
Vhaela can often be found with a goblet of wine in hand and when she is absent of spirits she is usually with her lyre, singing the songs of the gods.
Vhaela's destiny set her on a unique path within the Aergyreon family. While her elder sister, Gaelys, embodies strength and resilience, Vhaela has carved her own niche as a formidable businesswoman and a master of trade and commerce. Her charisma, cunning, and sharp wit have earned her a reputation as a skillful negotiator, capable of crafting deals that swell her family's coffers with wealth and precious gems.
Intriguingly, Vhaela is more than a savvy trader; she possesses a profound love for art and music, embracing the vibrant culture of the Valyrian Freehold. Her grace and elegance are matched only by her unwavering determination, which has allowed her to excel not only in the social and political arenas but also in the physical realm. Armed with a Valyrian steel whip, she can wield deadly precision when the situation demands, ensuring she remains a force to be reckoned with.Vhaela also nurtures a unique fascination with the brutal spectacle of Stozzel’s Pit. This interest extends to her plans for the future, where she aspires to sponsor a fighter, further weaving her name into the history of Valyria's diverse entertainments and solidifying her presence as a true Lady of Jewels in the realm of merchants and traders. If not with fire then with blood.
History
“What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.” ——Pericles
In the Beginning
Vhaela was brought into this world in 4831 AD. Her arrival was welcomed with joy and proved to be a relatively easy birth. Immediately she latched onto her mother, shadowing her grace and kindness and followed her everywhere. Even to the fires of hell if she had to. Of course she loved both of her parents, her father taught her strength not with brawn but with words and instilled his ambition into young Vhaela at such an early age.
This ambition would follow her as she aged in a Valyria held together by magic and dragonblood. Conquest was certainly on the mind of many families but not with Aergyreon. Though, not in the classic sense. Their conquest came through the art of diplomacy and trade. A skill that would prove to shape Vhaela in the years to come. For the most part, Vhaela had a comfortable lifestyle, always surrounded by luxury and art with the exciting thought that one day she too will be a dragonlord just like the rest of her family.
From a tender age, Vhaela's heart was also drawn to the savage beauty of Stozzel’s Pit. Often brought by her father and brothers, the pit was an exceptional place for business and Daegar was an honored guest whose pockets ran heavy. However, in Vhaela’s case she would learn the guiles of business one way or another, and neither Daegar nor Vysessa wished to shelter any of their children from the harsh reality of the world. Vhaela was no exception… Though It was an odd fascination for someone of her gentle nature, the raw displays of power and bloodshed held a magnetic allure. The pit fighters became her unspoken heroes, their prowess in combat: a brutal example to the indomitable spirit of not only Valyria but the lengths man would go to fight for their future. To survive. They were hard lessons, harsh by nature and taught Vhaela of the cruelty of the world exceptionally early.
In many ways her fascination with the Fight pits also taught her of her place within the Realm. How far her privilege protected her and despite the entertainment that came out of it, Vhaela swore to never end up in the pits herself. A shining reminder of how her life could be so different if she didn’t have the blood of the dragons within her.
It was both admiration and fear that drew her back to the pits, each and every time.
But as fate would have it, tragedy struck when she was just twelve years old. Her beloved father Daegar Aergyreon, perished in a heart-wrenching accident, leaving a void that seemed impossible to fill. In that moment, Vhaela's cheerful demeanor faded, replaced by the darkness of grief. It was a loss that would shape her in ways she could never have foreseen. Though who could foresee her mother passing not long after? That loss cut her deeper than any sword ever could. She was hollow, a lifeless shell of the joy and light that once filled her. A darkness overwhelmed the young Vhaela and she knew not which direction to tread. She wouldn’t allow anyone near her as she descended into a brief spell of madness.
How could she go on without the light in her world?
Despite this tragedy, Vhaela was at the age where her life would and will change forever. The family mage saw to take opportunity within the grief and brought Vhaela to meet with her mother’s dragon. A shot in the dark that it could work, that it could pull Vhaela out from the pits of her despair… Or it could plunge her into the darkness deeper. It was a gamble, one way or another, if Vhaela would be rejected or not.
Much to the joy of all, the bond was almost instant and the moment young Vhaela laid eyes upon the majestic beast the girl saw and felt her Mother’s warmth with all of her grace and beauty and in turn the Dragon recognized Vhaela for who she was. Vysessa’s daughter. The family mage was taken back with how instantaneous the bond truly was but in truth wasn’t too entirely surprised. It was their idea after all to take young Vhaela to see her mother’s dragon immediately after the tragedy. Together Vhaela and her dragon would melt and entangle their destinies, dealing with their grief in their own way. It was private, intimate and in so many ways magical in its own right. From her loss, Vhaela gained something far greater than any man could offer and grander than anything coin could buy. She was a Dragonlord now, divine and brilliant.
Something shifted within Vhaela after these events and what used to be a quiet and kind, gentle girl began to harden into something sharper, more deadly.
After Tragedy
The death of her parents marked a turning point in Vhaela's life. She began to grasp the intricate complexities of Valyrian politics and the delicate balance of power within the Freehold. With her elder brother shouldering the mantle of family head, Vhaela felt the growing weight of responsibility on her own shoulders along with the rest of her siblings.
In a time where dragons were revered and alliances as fragile as eggshells, Vhaela's diplomatic skills became her greatest asset. She navigated the dangerous waters of Valyrian politics within the Freehold, building alliances and safeguarding her family's interests. It was a transformation from a gentle-hearted girl into a shrewd diplomat, born out of necessity.
Yet, Vhaela chose a path distinct from her elder sister Gaelys, who epitomized strength and resilience. Vhaela's heart brimmed with joy for the world of merchants, traders, and artisans. She reveled in the bustling markets and thriving trade routes of Valyria, where wealth flowed like the fiery currents of her dragon's breath.
She had a vision to become the Lady of Jewels, A self-made title but one that would absolutely stick. Vhaela cultivated deep friendships with traders and merchants, forging a vast network of contacts and allies that spanned the Freehold. Her charisma, wit, and razor-sharp tongue made her a formidable negotiator, crafting deals that left her family's coffers overflowing with wealth and precious gems.
Her path in politics was marked by a desire to create connections and alliances through trade, prosperity, and the art of enterprise. Vhaela understood that true power extended beyond the battlefield, reaching into the hearts and pockets of those who engaged in commerce.
This was defined when she managed to keep negotiations between both the Vartik and Vibius family. Using dragonback to secure trades with frequent visits and business talks more often than not while her brother managed the family’s inner workings. Tradetalk came easy to the once sweetheart who now uses her charm to make sure not only their family banner’s are happy but the coin continues to flow.
Despite the Vibius’s family animosity towards Valcoran, Vhaela honored her family’s decision to keep the infantry family beneath their wing over the years. She was never one to meddle in the affairs of others but often Vhaela would find herself taking many trips to mingle with the family not only to learn of developments but also personal affairs as well.
Being only six years old when the Loss of Mhysa Faer occurred, those events shaped her in many ways growing up. The Valcoran’s negligence of their men’s concerns as well as their hubris was a shining example of what she would never be. In many ways this extended to her empathy towards the Vibius family, often meeting their needs quicker than others and finding herself intrigued more often with their military, even if most of it was for duty.
Vhaela was the face of diplomacy within the Aergyreon family, and both families were very much aware of her presence and what her job truly meant. Some, a little too aware.
While Gaelys hosted dancers and pleasure seekers, Vhaela often joined her elder sister, lending her sharp wit and discerning eye to the festivities. She delighted in offering suggestions for captivating guests who would add an extra layer of intrigue and splendor to the gatherings.
Thus, Vhaela had found her own unique path—a woman who danced to the rhythm of commerce, diplomacy, and celebration. Her life was a love letter to her parent’s legacy, where power took many forms and Vhaela created her own.
Incident at the Isle of Cedars
During the tumultuous period following the death of their parents, Vhaela Aergyreon, then just twelve years old, found herself grappling with the turmoil caused by her sister Gaelys's mission to the Isle of Cedars. As Gaelys embarked on her journey to Velos to ensure the loyalty of the outposts under their family's control, Vhaela remained behind in Valyria, a young observer of the events that would unfold.
The news of Gaelys's mission reached Vhaela, and she couldn't help but feel a mix of admiration and concern for her elder sister. Gaelys had always been a source of inspiration, embodying strength and determination. As Vhaela learned of the treacherous plot against Gaelys and Tharion, she couldn't fathom the depth of betrayal that had taken root among the outposts.
Vhaela's heart swelled with pride when she heard of Gaelys's response to the treachery. The initial fury and desire for swift vengeance that Gaelys must have felt resonated with Vhaela, for it was a shared fiery spirit that ran in their Valyrian blood. However, Vhaela also understood the wisdom in her sister's actions as Gaelys opted for a more calculated approach.
The memory of their parents, who had been taken from them not long ago, weighed heavily on Vhaela's heart. She saw the echoes of their father's wisdom in Gaelys's decision to refrain from immediate violence. It was a reflection to their upbringing, a legacy of diplomacy, and a commitment to honor their family's name.
Vhaela waited anxiously for news of her sister's return, her heart filled with both relief and anticipation. Gaelys's resilience and determination in the face of adversity had left an indelible mark on Vhaela, inspiring her to embrace her role within the Aergyreon family.
As the Valyrian skies bore witness to the soaring dragons and the unfolding events in the Freehold, Vhaela knew that their family's destiny was intertwined with the ever-shifting tides of power and loyalty. She could only hope to emulate the strength and grace exhibited by her sister, forging her own path in the intricate dance of Valyrian politics and the legacy of their dragonriding lineage.
By Guile Not Strength
Vhaela’s family words ended up forging her destiny more than she truly let on. Whenever conflict arose and her dragon was made a point of contention, Vhaela enacted grace where others may have expected dragonfire. In the absence of her parents Vhaela found strength within her siblings. When she wasn’t with Gaelys she was shadowing her brothers, informing them of usual business but also making sure they were alright with the added pressure. Gaelys wasn’t the only sibling she admired, just the one she was closest to. Perhaps it was because Gaelys showed strength where Vhaela, at times, wished she had.
But the shining diplomat was involved in all of her family’s business. She loved them, every single one of them and would do anything to keep them all safe in her own right. Even if it meant being a little too nosey from time to time. Family shouldn’t have secrets from one another, at least that’s what she thought.
It was her Aunt, however, that truly made sure Vhaela never strayed too far. For when she lost her parents her aunt stepped in and immediately offered counsel to those who may have needed it, and Vhaela did. She needed advice and guidance often, especially when she became a young adult.
Of course, outside of her passion for family bonds Vhaela continued to be a known face at Stozzel’s pit. Her admiration for the gladiators and the wicked fights only grew in abundance over the years, as did her coin. She is searching to sponsor a fighter now, marking her reputation deeper within the Freehold.
The closest man could ever get to godhood, at least, without dragons. And she noticed.
