The Eyes of the Walls

The Eyes are a group of elite soldiers in Iþivis, thought to reside idly at the Inner and Middle Walls of the city until their duties are required. They do not wear the typical insignia, nor armor of the Royal Iþivian Guard, but beneath their casual dress, they retain the same extensive training and magical prowess of the highest ranking generals of Jupiter's army. It's believed that there are between 350-400 Eyes on standby on the outskirts of each ring of the city.

Purpose

They are called to attention whenever the Talmares family, or especially Jupiter himself step foot outside of the castle into the streets of the city. In most cases, a member of the family will always be assisted by one or two guards, but for ensured protection, at least 2 Eyes are kept on their target at all times. They are only to engage in case of a dire, immediate threat to the royal family.

No matter where they go, the Eyes keep track of where each family member is outside of the castle, and if they enter a building that they cannot afford to enter for fear of compromising their secrecy, they monitor externally through any means necessary. Often these occur in very short shifts of a half hour to avoid suspicion, and also serves to sweep the surrounding areas for any threats.

Even Jupiter is monitored to some extent under the Eyes. Though given his abilities, its disputed whether or not the Eyes are even necessary to guard the Grand Emperor. Nevertheless, his actions are watched all the same as the Talmares. Only once have the actions of the group been called out publicly, and it was by Jupiter himself when their surveillance became obvious during his time in the Nightsun Neighborhood.
