Ver'Del Settlement in The Cradle of Worlds | World Anvil

Ver'Del

Ver'Del is a sad layer of the Mad Dungeon, that gets along barely with its mining of the Vertin Dust and the food provided by the underlake pools. While still having access to the silver mines that provided the original reason for the mining settlement, they are in current disuse.

Government

Run entirely by the Delve Corporation

Infrastructure

The town is located in a relatively large linear but sloped stone cave. It uses this to have 5 districts of the city from top to bottom; The Exchange, The Manors, The Belchers, The Warrens, and the Deeplake shore.   The Exchange is where the temple, the Delve Corporation bureaucracy, and the vertical shaft to Ilroor Maror is located. Most of it is a series of functional buildings as well as the prominent "Palace" of the Director. It is populated mostly by the Leaders of the corporation and their personal servants.   The Manors is a fancy name for the part of the town with the majority of the homes instead of commercial buildings. Contains most of the freemen and bureaucrats.   The Belchers contains the refineries for the Vertin Dust as well as some unused smelters.   The Warrens is the location given to the slavemasters and the slaves. They make up about 80% of the population of Ver'Del. These packed tenements are strictly overseen by the taskmasters. This area also has the most access to the mines, as well as a well protected side shaft up to the Ifreet Layer.   The Deeplake shore is a series of docks and warehouses for food. The lake provides eyeless fish, seaweed and little else. The town would not survive without this resource but it can also not survive without a stead stream of food imports from Ilroor Maror and the fungal lords with whom they can be reached through a side channel in the deep lake.
