Qhigu & Dragons Myth in Teo-Mnach | World Anvil

Qhigu & Dragons

Among the Qhigu there are legends of a species that roam the galaxies. A species that came through our galaxy long before we learnt to travel the stars. Most of the legends are mere myth, tales handed down through generations with who knows how much truth attached to them. However there are ancient recordings from noted scholars and historians that make mention of these creatures, which do lend some credence to the legends being true.

Synopsis

The myth of the Dragon's Gorge is one that still lingers to this day, though the details have been forgotten by most. Situated on Meado Isataari's homeworld, the gorge is an unusual geographical feature with a story that originates from long before the Qhigu took to the stars. Those who know of, or have heard, of the gorge will probably know the brief story of how it came by it's name. An enormous winged lizard flew down from the sky, dug a fift into the earth, extracted a glowing object and then flew back off into the sky again.

The full myth

As recorded in Myth's of the Southern Continent, by Qhaido
In the year of 1236 WD, the Qhigu of [placeholder] were astonished to see an emormous creature descend from the sky, and land in the nearby hills. It was so large, that as it passed overhead it's shadow encompassed the whole town. The Elder council sent a party of the town's (peace keepers?) to investigate, several of the braver townsfolk followed them, against the council's wishes.   The creature was several hundred metres long, with large wings, and a long sinuous tail. It had scales which seemed to be made from rocks, and minerals of a variety colours and shades. it was digging a large trench into the ground, tearing up the earth with it's large claws. after a few minutes of digging it stopped. The group from the town could now only see the Dragon's tail sticking out of the ground, the creature had dug so far, so they didn't see what happened next. However, every one of them suddenly felt an intense pressure inside their skulls, which caused them to become completely disoriented.   By the time they all regained their senses, the creature had backed out of the now rift in the earth, cradling in one claw a glowing object. Completely ignoring the watchers it spread it's vast wings, and with a giant heave launched itself into the air. the resulting downdraft played havoc amongst the townsfolks mounts, and only a few of the more skilled riders watched as it soared into the sky disappearing from sight in less time than it took, the others to calm their mounts.
