Badia Desert

The Great Badia Desert is aptly named after one of The Seven, Badia who has dominion over the Sun, Illusions and Destruction. The great desert stretches from the eastern to western coasts of the southern part of the continent. It borders the Vimor Empire, as well as the United Provinces of Odis. The Empire known as the Sultanate of Badia holds it's capital Al Nuzied upon it's coastal line along with a multitude of other settlements. The Yearning Expanse is the ocean body that surrounds the southern side of the desert. The desert is ripe with natural minerals like gold, iron, silver, and platinum. However the desert is also perilous where many have traveled within to strike rich only never to be heard or seen again.  

Geography

The Badia Desert is largely made up of sand and rock. Very little fauna exists within the desert, with the exception of the occasional oasis. However most oasis are teaming with dangers of the desert from creatures looking to find water to survive. The Yearning Expanse borders the southern part of the desert giving the settlements the ability to trade by sea instead of braving the scorching sun.

Localized Phenomena

The Badia Desert is famous for it's mirages, many travelers who have found themselves traveling the desert report visual illusions. These illusions are said to be Badia himself playing tricks upon the travelers for his own amusement.

Fauna & Flora

The desert is considered an inhospitable place for the races of Ronia. However the desert is also teaming with life. From Scorpions, Sand Worms, Snakes, and Camels. Much of the wildlife finds themselves concentrated around the few oasis throughout the desert, never venturing to far from their precious water sources.

Natural Resources

Very little arable farm land is available within the desert. However the desert is rich with gold, copper, iron, zinc, silver, and platinum.

History

The Badia Desert has long been apart of the folklore of the region. With legends and myths stretching back a thousand years. It was once said a great Empire built themselves a kingdom within the sands. Their structures are said to still remain buried beneath.

Tourism

Folks rarely travel into the desert unless they have some specific purpose. Most tourism is concentrated on it's coastlines upon the settlements of Sultanate of Badia.
