Frostmere

The Frostmere is a Shardscape realm of primordial ice. Not much of it has been explored due to the incredibly hostile conditions and frigid temperatures. Though the entire realm is typically referred to as the Frostmere, in truth, the name pertains only to a potentially-tiny part of the larger whole.
The name "Frostmere," in particular, refers to the vast sea of ice that stretches out to the horizon. More specifically, it is the name of one inlet surrounded by high cliff walls that would otherwise be unremarkable but for the fact it is where the Burdensome City of Gelethis can be found.

Localized Phenomena

As the name might suggest, the Frostmere is in the grip of an unending and deeply bitter winter. It is so cold the chill soaks into the bones regardless of how many layers of clothing one might wear and the frigid bite of the wind is such that even a slight breeze can feel like hundreds of tiny razors scraping across one's skin. The sky is overcast year-round, with the sun shining through only on rare occasions.

Fauna & Flora

The cold is such that few organisms can survive unaided in the Frostmere. The local ecosystem is underpinned by the seven Titans shackled to Gelethis. The blood that drips from their bodies due to the torturous bindings that keep them tied to Gelethis pools around the leading edge of the city, giving rise to smaller creatures, relatively speaking, known as titanspawn. Most of these titanspawn are summarily crushed under the city but some few agile enough are able to escape.
Of the surviving titanspawn, most are hunted for their meat, bones, and hides by hunting parties from Gelethis. A small fraction have the determination and strength to scale the cliff walls and scatter through the larger Frostmere, where their bodies and the potent Titansblood contained within can germinate entire mini-ecosystems that thrive despite the cold due to the heat of the titansblood.
