Hangover

A Well Known Condition

Despite doctors best efforts to warn the public about excessive drinking and the after effects thereof, people seem to be incapable of limiting themselves to "two drinks". The "hangover" as a documented condition has been studied for over a thousand years and yet the only presentable cures were either abstinance of alcohol or general pain relievers. Many home remedies were developed throughout the ages and included everything from simple teas to the extreme philosophy of "you can't be hungover if you're still drunk".

Work Hard

Following the reestablishment of prohibition and its universal application, people became restless. They started searching for illegal liqours and were willing to pay exhorbitant prices for it. Their pursuit and willingness to pay led to the increase of production, thanks in large part to The Syndicate, and over-consumption of many.

Party Harder

Following the acts of Jerry Riggs the III and the establishment of the Bootleggathon, governments were forced to compromise on prohibition and many systems voted to allow alcohol to be legal one week a year; specifically during the Bootleggathon. During this week, hospitals and MEDbays saw huge influxes of patients with hangover symptoms.

A Speedy Solution

Pharmaceutical companies saw an opportunity to make money and immediately began researching effective treatments for hangovers. Their solution was a drug that increased the amount of oxygen that could be carried in the blood; Oxyglobin. The results were outstanding; rather than hours, hangovers would fade within minutes. The drug also found a secondary use for explorers in low-oxygen enviroments.

Such a great idea! If a cure for a hangover could be made in real life someone would make a lot of money.
